Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

A friend of mine bought a tiptronic 06 with 1300 miles on the odo and over the last month the computer has been counting down the days till service. After now just turning over 3000 it states the car needs to go in for service. He's wondering if perhaps the odo was turned back electronicly(sp?) but the comp still has the origanal mileage in it which might be closer to 20000. Everything looks good and all the fluids are normal and neither of us are car idiots so maybe it is a glitch. He called the dealer and was told the mechanic could fix that and it sometimes "happens". Anybody else?

POST 2Original post

If All Else Fails Red the Instruction Manual.... If all Else Fails READ the Instruction Manual.....! The Service Interval is 20,000 miles OR 2 Years........ Looks like an '06 Cayman's time is up!

POST 3Original post

Karel is right. The dealer apparently installed the service notice about two years ago just before the car was sold. My '06 CS gave me the service notice in January. Others have also reported getting the same service notice. If your friend takes it to the dealer for service, they will include the official CS trunk clunk fix at no charge, but the rest will be expensive.

POST 4Original post

Yep. I thought it was so neat when I turned the car on one day and saw a little wrench in the display area with a message telling me I was due for service in 25 days or 2,500 miles. The numbers update themselves as time and miles go on...

POST 6Original post

hhhmmmm..... have never seen the wrench or "service due" message yet...maybe it was all the extra oil changes ?? I am going to ask the dealer next time if it is something that they reset with the computer when the car is in.....
