Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

In short I used the adapter for the 911 3.0 litre engines in conjunction with good marine plywood braced with 2.0cm square tubing together with strategically placed uprights to produce a stable platform.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am looking to pull the engine from my 997tt. Is there a jack adapter or cradle sold to help bring engine down in a stable/safe fashion? I see them for the early 911s but nothing for my car. Anyone source on before? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

POST 2Original post

I use a 1k tranny jack with a board. I remove the engine and trans at the same time. I strap the assembly to the jack around the bell housing area.

POST 3Original post

I have just finished the job of lowering the engine/gearbox combination out of my new (to me) 997. Like you I searched for a suitable engine cradle for this car and finding none, decided to make one. In short I used the adapter for the 911 3.0 litre engines in conjunction with good marine plywood braced with 2.0cm square tubing together with strategically placed uprights to produce a stable platform. I was somewhat lucky in my placement of the adapter as it proved to be in a near perfect balance position. There was no need to put anything under the gear box during the drop as the whole lot came down in a near horizontal situation. There was quite a bit of trial and error involved in making the platform but the time proved to be time well spent as there was never a hint of instability during the drop. The photo's tell the story.

POST 4Original post

This is my 15$ hardware store version. Worked like charm and took 15 minutes to build. All you need is a regular 2ton jack with top plate removed. 2x6 is bolted to it through a two metal plates working like a sandwich. 2 more 2x6 transversally screwed with some rubber pad nailed to it. Used regular scissor type jack and one more jack stand under the transmission. The whole thing can be put on jack stands and the jack can then be removed from underneath in case you need that same jack to lift the car higher.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
