My commute changed from waking up and wandering to my office in my house to going into the office, hence the change from my Dodge Ram 1500 to something a bit easier on gas.

Check around for a 2002-2003 maybe for a few grand more if you don't get another car to supplement your 911.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey there, A slightly modified quote: "First time poster, long time lurker" So various forces have conspired against me (well for me really) to get a used 911. Like most of you, I've been a Porsche lover since I was a little kid, so I get a kick out of reading everyones posts about various topics! I currently drive around 80 miles round trip per day for work - and driving my truck every day is killing me. I usually split time between my 07 Honda VFR Interceptor and my new Dodge Ram on commutes depending on when I have my kids and weather. I've read through the various posts about daily drivers, IMS, etc. and I'm really thinking this is my "excuse" to get a Porsche for commuting/fun. From what I can tell the 911's seem fairly reliable so that's kind of what's piqued my interest the most. I need to sell my truck before I do anything, but going into winter here in Cincinnati, I'm not too concerned about those prospects. I will need to get another vehicle to haul the 2 kids around in though (4 and 5) so I'm looking to keep the price for the 911 in the mid 20's max. I found one that looks good up in Cleveland: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...al&CMP=usedInv Seems a bit expensive for a 2000 model year - but I thought I'd ask the collective community here to chime in and see what they think. Thanks again for any help!

POST 2Original post

It looks like a nice vehicle with some nice options. It appears to be in pretty good shape and the mileage is fairly low. I think it would be worth a test drive!

POST 3Original post

It's a little bit on the expensive side but it is a dealer. If you take a good look around you will see there aren't many pristine, well maintained, lower mileage (less than 50K), 2002+ cars out there for mid 20s. It just doesn't happen that often.

POST 4Original post

Price is a little high for a 2000, but it really depends on condition. Get a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) from a knowledgable expert before buying.

POST 5Original post

Welcome, nice intro. Price is tough to determine, don't worry about it until you're ready to actually buy, then negotiate if you can. Looks awfully nice. GL

POST 6Original post

welcome alowishus. there are some nice examples, and your kids will fit perfectly in the Pcar. Like another post mentioned, a good PPI and test drive and having a good indi in your area will benefit you greatly on your purchase. If you can afford to downsize to a smaller truck, you might even come out ahead on cost/gas consumption. You'll enjoy the long drives in the Porsche 1000X's more.

POST 7Original post

If you get serious about this one, I would be happy to look at for you at least at the cosmetics. And you could get the PPI done at Autobahn Extremists which is less than 30 min. from this cars location. I have a 5 and 8 year old and they fit fine for short trips. Although when it's all of us, we take the van. Check around for a 2002-2003 maybe for a few grand more if you don't get another car to supplement your 911.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the input! It does seem a bit more price-wise based on what I've been reading, but it does have relatively low miles on it. My commute changed from waking up and wandering to my office in my house to going into the office, hence the change from my Dodge Ram 1500 to something a bit easier on gas. I realize a 911 isn't a Prius, but getting into the mid 20's in mpg's is the one thing I'm looking for and the 911 seems to fit the bill. (Plus it's not a Prius - did I mention that?) Optical - thanks for the offer I may take you up on that since I am in Cincinnati, I'd rather go up there once if need be (my mom is in Twinsburg, so it's not a huge deal to go up for a "visit"). And you are right on about hauling the kids around - smaller truck or SUV for those times when it's needed. Thanks again!

Quotes source post: 8960388

You should definitely stop by a local dealer to check for yourself but my kids (4 and 6) fit comfortably in the back of my Cab and they're both tall. In fact, my 6 yr old fits better than my 4 year old BECAUSE her legs are longer and her feet don't get squeezed into the backseat. She has plenty of knee room. That said, we usually have the kids in the Odyssey on longer trips. I think it's the vertical seating position in the back that gets to them more than leg room. -Eric

POST 10Original post

(Putting on flame suit now).......... I think some of the people on this board are helping to drive prices down.

POST 12Original post

It's a nice looking car, that's for sure. Mine's been my beloved daily driver for 5 1/2 years and, for the most part, it's been extremely reliable, with just the usual wear items that come with age and use. It has 129,000+ miles on it now, of which I'm responsible for 92,000 of those miles. The cars are pretty easy to work on too, which will help immensely with maintenance costs over time, not to mention the intimate familiarity you'll gain with the car. I've had no problem averaging 25+mpg over the years, and yet the car pulls like a freight train whenever I ask it to. It still seems to have all the power it's ever had.
