Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Since we we got the car last week I've already fitted the mounts for the hardtop, removed the center console for painting and also opened up the reverse light switch for repair to get the back up lights working...

I haven't bothered as I use CarPlay and Google Maps.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all ðŸ‘
In approximately 24 hrs I intend to dive in to a PCCM Plus install on a 2004 996TT equipped with Bose and a CD changer in the frunk, haven't checked for an Amp in frunk as of now, maybe that's a given with Bose, im unsure.
I ordered my unit it from my local dealership who requested my VIN and proceeded to supply a new frame ( can't see why as I'm already double DIN ?? )
also a small 4 inch brown ground wire with a ring fitting
Im unsure on a few connectivity issues at this point and am hoping for some clarification from any clued up gurus
my first question is regarding the ground wire and it's purpose and placement within the install
secondly I've heard you need to access the antenna booster in the A pillar and action some sort of bypass and or grounding, my question is for what reason and how do I carry this out ?
I have the orange fibre optic closed loop, am I right in assuming that is to isolate the redundant cd changer ?
If if I do indeed see an amplifier in the frunk, what action there ?
Since we we got the car last week I've already fitted the mounts for the hardtop, removed the center console for painting and also opened up the reverse light switch for repair to get the back up lights working... all successfully
i feel like im on a bit of a roll so would love to complete this install without too much drama this weekend
thanks in advance ðŸ‘
Soin
Thanks for the link
Seen this already
Bull in a China shop springs to mind
Still doesn't answer the antenna or optic loop
Questions
Looks like I'm going it alone
Starting in 15 😬
Mostly this (there is link to download official instructions here)

You are correct the Orange fibre loop is to bypass a CD changer if you have one. The Cable in the A pillar bypassed the standard antenna amplifier, the purpose is as the factory antenna is designed for AM/FM and therefore other bands such as DAB are attenuated, the kit has a new amplifier box that then does AM/FM/DAB. And yes if you have a PCM already you do not need the additional frame, you can tell Porsche it's not needed than them charging an extra £50 for one then realising they don't need it half way through the job.
Install complete
Fair bit of swearing but done nonetheless
Removed the supplied microphone from its casing and ran it to the factory location on the gauge cluster
Ran the aux/USB from the glovebox and fed a lightning connector through from glovebox to rear of the cubby
Didn't use the most loop at the cd changer
Have had no adverse effects yet ?!
Maybe I should leave as is ?
The CD changer is designed to pass through the optical signal until it receives a command to read a CD and output data so will act as a bypass now there's nothing to talk to it anymore. By not using the loop it will work fine but if the CD changer dies one day and the repeater circuit no longer works you will lose all audio. By rights it's best to remove and put the loop in as you essentially just have a device drawing power, is a potential failure point in your optical circuit as well and causes a tiny audio latency ect nothing too noticeable. Main reason to do it is otherwise if the CD changer fails far into the future you may have thrown away the cable or forgotten the CD changer can be an issue and think your PCCM+ broke.
brilliant advice
thank you very much will get it put in place
so to be sure im removing the cd changer physically and looping off the original input to said changer ?
cheers esendia
could have saved me a lot of hassle in the future
That is correct, where the orange leaded optical cable plugs in the CD changer (look identical to the one you plugged in the back of your PCM) just plug the loop there instead. Up to you if want to physically remove the changer or just unplug all connections if you think the gap it leaves is unsightly.
My Boxster had a CD changer that failed years ago and looped it out then. My C4S never came with one.
Sorry, another thread bump as I've seen various posts on the install but the more I read the more confused I get!
If this is going in to a car which has got a PCM unit at the moment, do I need anything else other than the PCCM+ kit? Any extra wires or frames etc?
Where have people mounted the GPS antenna?
I take it the maps aren't open-source, so if I want the on-device maps, I just need to pony up the cash and order them from my OPC?
Others will have more knowledge than me for sure but my C4S came with PCM (double din) and only other thing I needed was a cubby which goes above the climate control in the centre console.
Im assuming you are attempting this install yourself? I did and have very little experience but it was all plug and play generally and for the most part, very straightforward. The biggest headache for me was (and still is!) the radio part. Familiarise yourself with the posts on diversity module.
My car came with a GPS antenna installed at the factory so I discarded the one that came with the PCCM+ and used what was already there. Otherwise would suggest putting it in the same place?
I think that you buy maps from Porsche on an SD cars. I haven't bothered as I use CarPlay and Google Maps.
