Reported cause
I had an intermittent issue with no drive on my Range Rover, that turned out to be low fluid and no fault code.
Leading evidence: 'low fluid and no fault code' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'low fluid and no fault code' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check of the box' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I had this - my Indy drained the box, changed the filter, and then refilled the box, and its been fine since

So changed the transmission fluid, not set the level yet due to another issue.

A lvl check of the box but far better to replace the oil and filter if possible ..

I already own a pressure fill but not specific porsche one, I am not with my car so would like to have this prior to having a look.

Just short on time, haven't seen my car since March and won't see it until, mid August, so want to make sure I have as much detail as possible to affect an efficient repair time.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi
I have a 996 C2 Tiptronic, and recently it lost drive and I costed to a halt, noting that there were no gear position on the dash, I turned the engine off and restarted and away it went, then the other day my dad borrowed my Porsche again, it's at his house. So I guess that's fair. anyway he also reported a loss of drive but unsure about the gear indication.
Any ideas? or Tips pardon the pun
I'm afraid this needs a garage to have a look .. fault codes with a tester is where i would start followed by a fluid level check but as its intermittent i would lean towards an electrical issue .
The only reason it will need to go to a garage is if the Box needs rebuilding.
I have never taken a car to a garage excluding MOT
although I am considering, taking it for a service just for the stamp in the book and getting a good list of future work to do.
Fair enough then you need a fault code read out of the DME and the Tip Cu and post the codes .. a look at Tip actual values for anything that stands out would be useful but if the fault is not current then i doubt you'll see anything .
A lvl check of the box but far better to replace the oil and filter if possible .. a leaking filter seal can certainly cause issues but that although rare is normally after a filter has been replaced and the seal splits .
You can also inspect the pan for debris .
Does anyone know where I can buy a connector for the oil fill pump to the gearbox?
Like it's actual size or a place and part number?
I already own a pressure fill but not specific porsche one, I am not with my car so would like to have this prior to having a look.
Tiptronic loss of drive
Hi I have had a few issues come up.
Firstly and the only one I am seeking advice for, my Tiptronic completely lost drive on a few occasions, I also note at the point this happened, the gear indication lights on the dash, we're all off!
So what does the loss of drive along with loss of the gear indication, point towards being the cause?
I do know how to start resolving, the issues but if anyone that really knows what they are talking about, as in has real experience of this or auto boxes in general, it would be appreciated.
As I already know what to do, to get start fluid change planned for when I next to see the car, Covid rules are keeping me and the car apart.
Other issues are coolant / ABS / power steering fluid fell out near the steering rack, but none of these, are overly concerning in terms of knowing what to do.
The reply was just a little basic, for someone of my technical ability.
Not being critical of the reply, it was appreciated just not the information I was looking for.

Ok
So changed the transmission fluid, not set the level yet due to another issue.
Hoping that it's good news in the removed the sump and the filter fell out but intact. So wouldn't be much of an Oring seal, also loads of oil, but also drained the Differential.
Do I need more than 5L of oil to replace?
The issue that prevent a me from continuing is Power Steering pipes at £1250 for the 2 pipes! Seems like it's double the price because it's RH drive.
Will post my wisdom on the pipes on a separate thread.
So for future advice on a loss of drive try an oil and filter change - unlikely to be Electrical.
Just an aged oil filter seal. Nothing serious. Certainly no reason to be running to the nearest Porsche dealer. In the first instance.
