I installed a gooseneck for the phone that is attached to the seat console.

I thought I was going to have to replace the head unit and all speakers but after installing the continental the sound is so improved that Im not replacing the speakers anymore.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looking at the 993 threads it does not seem that you can add bluetooth to the the CDR-210. Has anyone found a solution?
If not other than the PCCM, any recomendations for a single DIN head units that maintain a classic look.
On my 210. I bought a device that plugs into your cigarette lighter and has the Bluetooth come through on a radio channel. It works great plus has a microphone so I can use the phone to talk as well. I think it was $25. Works for me. If you want to keep the radio and the look like I did.

From the ebay ad it states it works with the following Porsche radios:
OEM Becker radios: CDR21,CDR-22 , CDR210,CDR-220, CR11,CR21,Traffic Pro 4760, Traffic Pro BE4720

I believe that another factor is whether or not the car came with a CD changer; this kit uses that port, as do others.

U can get an exact fit harness from bergvill as well as the radio. Im pretty sure mine has a mic input. They also sell a small "porsche" sticker to cover the continental logo
Easiest way to do it - send it to Becker in NJ and let them add it to the radio.

I second the Continental radio for a somewhat period correct almost OEM look for under $200 with Bluetooth. Had it in my 99 Boxster and it looked great!
This is probably the best and most reliable way.
Those bluetooth add-on boxes seem ok for a price point but Becker made the original radio, I think they can handle putting bluetooth in it.
They used to list the service on ebay but I can't find the listing now. Weird
They list a 220 for sale with internal BT but no 210. Might have to send yours in. I used to sell them 210s as core units a few years ago

Do you want to be 95% there for WAY less? Choose a Bluetooth cigarette lighter unit from Amazon! I can call, speak to anyone who calls and listen to anything for cheap. Is it as good as PCCM? No, but for $25 I can charge my phone and headphones, listen to Waze directions and not do any work. Seriously. ALL DAY LONG!

When you send it to Becker in NJ, they do put bluetooth in it, but I believe it's just for receiving mode, i.e. you can stream from your phone to it, they do not add a mic to it, so you can't use it for phone calls. I did have this done for my 951 radio by them.
There's an easier, cheaper way that I did to my old CR-210. I pulled the stereo wire harness and substituted BT receiver input lines in place of the cd input wires and left a cd in the remote changer. Worked amazingly and I seem to recall the mic on my phone was good enough to pick up hands free. Cost less than $50.
Hello Jobyt, I'm new to the forum and I recently bought a 993 with a cdr 210 head unit. I don't have a cd changer ( but I can get one) and I tried to install a bluetooth module. The radio doesn't recognise the module so I wonder what you mean with pulling the stereo wire harness. How can I leave the cd changer connection and at the same time connect a bluetooth module in the cd changer connection? I'd like to keep the 210 not only for the looks but also because it's very easy to handle. New head units look terrible and have very long menus and the new retro head units are too expensive for what they are to me.
See post #8 above. I get the feeling that your 210 does not have the necessary input for the BT to work. Maybe you can find the appropriate 210 on eBayif it was me Id try to get the cassette version (though I dont know if that ever came with a CD changer) for the pure nostalgia of it!
It occurred to me that the CDR210 that came with my car was NOT the original deck (which was a CR210 according to the build sheet). My car doesnt have the CD changer which is why I assumed So maybe the CDR210 that I removed from the car actually is compatible with the BT module! Ill dig it out and check, and maybe it will be for sale.
In the mean time I found a complete sound system on a local second hand site. Gonna pick it up Sunday. Blaupunkt Orlando cassette radio from 1997 , Blaupunkt CD changer and Blaupunkt 4 channel amp. And the complete wire harness. All this in very good shape for 90 (103$). Now I should be able to make the bluetooth connection with a Bluetooth cassette that I have from my previous oldtimer. We'll see...Anyway the cdr210 was not the original radio that came with the car (original was a Blaupunkt Boston)

If you are not technically skilled, you can send your CDR210 and CDR220 in to Becker Audio in NJ and they can recondition it and add their Bluetooth system.
if you want to remain period correct in look but get all the modern capabilities of a new system, you can get the Blaupunkt Frankfurt.
As i mentioned previously, I sent my CDR220 in to Becker for reconditioning and to add the Bluetooth. Keeps the classic look and works perfectly. However, I may migrate over to the Blaupunkt Frankfurt someday if I decide I want a more modern system with classic looks.
At this stage of 23yrs of ownership, i still like listening to the engine/exhaust/intake amd ignore music and technology. But someday that may change.
Since I live in Belgium and not in the US, it would be virtually impossible to send my unit to Becker NJ and I didn't find anyone in my neighbourhood to add a bluetooth system to my cdr 210. I already had a look at the new retro Blaupunkt head units but according to some reviews the sound is not incredibly good and they are way overpriced. 400 for a retro unit that has the same specs of an modern 150 unit is just crazy.

Radio looks like it was made for the car.
I second all the Continental radio recommendations. I had a a CDR220. I thought I was going to have to replace the head unit and all speakers but after installing the continental the sound is so improved that Im not replacing the speakers anymore. Got the harness from Bergville.
Continintal radios are very difficult to find in Belgium. I can order one in Germany ( not cheap!) and as far as I know Continentals don't have DAB+ digital reception. DAB+ is replacing FM here in Europe and I don't know how long it's gonna take until FM is no longer available. Norway already stopped FM broadcasting.
Given what you are saying, I would think that the european car audio companies would have a next generation retro solution in the works. No?
If not, get a good exhaust system and enjoy the flat six symphony. Better music anyways.

Bergville sells the continental w DAB. Theyre based out of Europe. They have the harness youll
need also.
Thx, I already found it. Continental radios are also out of stock at Bergville.Tomorrow morning I'll have the Blaupunkt system and try it out. If that doesn't work out, the Continental would be a good alternative if I can still find it.
I took out the CDR210head unit and carefully put it away. I installed the Blaupunkt Orlando head unit instead and I think it goes really well with the dashboard.I also have the impression that the radiosection sounds better than the cdr210. I didn't install the amp and the CD changer that came with it because to me it sounds perfect as it is.
For navigation I can use my iPhone. I installed a gooseneck for the phone that is attached to the seat console. No need to drill any holes because there is one in the seat rail. This way I have my phone close to me without being in the way for anything else.
I also have bluetooth connection with a bluetooth cassette from my earlier car. The transmission works really well and the sound is perfect for me. I can even answer phone calls because the wire has a little switch and microphone at the end.
The Orlando DJ is exactly the same as the Sydney but was a package deal with a CD changer and a big Blaupunkt amp included. It plays better than I expected , so I won't need the amp.
idk. Its the one I went with. Was plug and play. Just wanted it right and it seemed like they knew exactly what they were doing. But youre right. Not cheap.
