This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Can anyone recommend garages that can perform the Gundo hack modification on my 996 and if you know, how much they charge. I am in the West midlands. Thanks

POST 2Original post

Adverts appear on EBay for companies that offer this hack. PCW in Hertfordshire charge circa £400 for this and he's booked months in advance.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks yeah seen him. Only two people on ebay offering the service him and Cybox exhausts systems LTD. PCW is quite fair away from me, £400 and fully booked up for ages. Cybox is £295, pretty close and doesn't seem to much of a wait. Here's the advert. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371377348309?hash=item5677d09ed5:g:G~QAAOSw0w9YVPyp Just wondering if anyone on here has used them?

POST 4Original post

Hi I got mine done by a professional welder in Worcestershire for £140 cash.. I had to remove the boxes and drop them off with him.. it was about 1 week turnaround..I had a 2" pipe fitted.. Great job www.weldis.co.uk ( Ray Scriven number is on the website.. call in the evening as this is side job) Hope this helps Johnny

POST 5Original post

I'd be interested in this too. Wondered if it sounded any different to the PCW version?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Johnny, That sounds perfect and close to me.

POST 7Original post

Funnily enough I emailed turbothomas in Redditch earlier to see if he's doing this or has done this in the past. I'll update if he does

POST 8Original post

Hi not sure which part of the West Mids you are in but a company in Walsall I have used in the past for fabrication work would be able to do this for you. Give Exhaust Parts UK a call. https://exhaustpartsuk.com/fabrication-page/ cheers, Tony.

POST 9Original post

This method is often called the Fisker hack in the US it replicates the Porsche sport exhaust system as the additional pipe is in the same places as the factory set up.. Just without the valve to open and close to turn it on and off. I opted for a 2" pipe but I have seen it done with a 1.5" pipe The welding work is superb and this was the first time here had done a 996 exhaust (you can see if you blow up the pic I posted) which is more then I can say when I watched the guy(PCW I think ) do the other short pipe method on Matt Watson's 996 YouTube vid.

POST 10Original post

If anyone would like to swap gundo hacked Cargraphic ETR silencers for either the same non-gundo hacked, or Topgear mild silencers then let me know.

POST 11Original post

This is not a complicated job, any good welder will be able to do the work if you supply them some photo detailing where you'd like the pipe placing. What they'll not do is remove the back boxes for you, but if you can take them off it should'nt cost you more than £150. I had my Dansk Sports back boxes Gundo hacked a couple of weeks back, I phoned about a couple of local steel fabrication companies, one didn't want to know, the other told me to pop along for a chat, after a 5 minute conversation and a few photos he knew exactly what I wanted, he ended up doing a great job.

POST 12Original post

Were your Dansk's standard or super sound? I've got the supers, and cant imagine how loud they'd be with a gundo!

POST 13Original post

No, not the super sound nor OE replacement but the Dansk offering that sits between the two know as the 'sound version', in standard form these are a little louder than the stock exhaust. I'd image my exhaust is now as loud as the super sound version, but, only when at WOT and above 3500 -4000 RPM.
