When I installed the waterproof case from SER about 6 years ago I guess I didnt route my wiring properly and the fuse extension wire dislodged from its connection point when she moved the seat.
Leading evidence: 'tied' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'tied' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install waterproof case' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all, any help/ideas with the following problem on my '02 Carrera Cab greatly appreciated:
Initial intermittent problem that started a week ago was passenger window would not drop and lock/unlock red light would stay on. No issue with passenger door entry. Sometimes, out of the blue while driving red light iwould go off without doing anything. And, window drop would sometimes work.
Today, I hit lock/unlock button on key fob (1st time in a while). I heard it activate the locks and I know it functioned because it moved the seat to original owner position as I had never set the seat memory. I could not get inside driver door even manually with the key. I was able to get in via passenger door. I could not even open driver door from inside. Also, key fob started to not activate anything. I started car and red light on lock/unlock was on and stayed on for a bit. Again, while driving the lock/unlock light went off. Once the light went off I tried the driver door and it opened from inside.
Got home turned car off & could again not open car door from inside or out but could get out passenger side. Ultimately was able to get driver door open by opening interior handle & letting it slam shut. I activated interior lock/unlock button again to see what would happen. And again, could not open driver door from inside or out or even manually with the key. So, it seems like something is happening in the lock cycle. Then again after using interior handle & letting it slam shut I was able to open door. I am a little afraid to activate lock cycle again and get driver door to not be able to open with the interior handle let slam trick.
Other issues:
Key fob even with new battery not operating locks or frunk. LED light on fob working. Tested battery voltage on both old & new battery & verified 3 Volts. So, doubt issue is tied to key fob.
Frunk not opening with interior switch either. I also tried 12 volt battery jump via fuse box and it would not open either. I was going to test battery voltage as a thought but now can't get in frunk. Well, at least for now until maybe I can get some time to manually access the emergency cable.
How could all of this be tied together and any thoughts on root issue? For reference, power windows operate fine and rear decklid switch works as well. Oddly, the window drop sometimes is not an issue.
Sounds like both your drivers side and passenger side door latches need replacing. And, our cars are getting old. It is likely the key fob has given up. It takes a lot of voltage to make things work. Try hooking up another automotive battery fully charged to the jump points in the engine bay, then try to open the frunk. Replace your battery if there is any question.
UPDATE: The Immobilizer under the driver seat 15amp micro fuse got me again! Blown. Replacement of that fuse has solved the inoperable frunk switch & key fob not responding issue.
Driver door is still hanging up and will not open without persuasion after it is locked. Next step is to go ahead and replace both door actuators. I ordered them today. It may be possible it is shorting out that fuse as all was nice & dry under the seat. In past I was burned by clogged roof drains backing up and soaking carpet. A few years ago it took out that fuse and had same issues. The door remaining locked threw me a bit this time around.
Well, mine wasnt blown, just dislodged. After noticing the frunk switch not working along with the courtesy lights I searched and this thread came up. I checked under the driver seat and noticed the fuse extension wire for the immobilizer seemed extended out from the ECU further than usual for some reason. Then it dawned on me that my wife moved the seat forward the last time she drove the car. When I installed the waterproof case from SER about 6 years ago I guess I didnt route my wiring properly and the fuse extension wire dislodged from its connection point when she moved the seat. Reconnected and took my time to ensure wires are not in a position for it to happen again.
