Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking for a little help please. I am reinstalling the original 3-spoke airbag wheel in my 2001 996 using the original parts. As part of this process I was checking the continuity of the wiring in the clockspring. It's not complex.... but I seem to be reading a dead short (or at least very low ohms between the two airbag wires on the yellow connector. This is on the bench and without the airbag plugged in. My question is 'is this correct'? Is there anyone out there with one of these handy that could check theirs for me? Thanks C

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Update For future reference.... Well I decided the easiest way to check was to disassemble the one on my 986 and sure enough when the clockspring is dosconnected at both ends there is a dead short between the 2 airbag wires. I guess this is built into the connector to prevent static build up on wires etc prior to connection. C

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
