Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys, 1998 C2 RHD I would like to replace the under bonnet latch release assembly. Have pulled the rubber, removed the plastic cowl/cover but I can't see how I can access the electronic connector to unplug. Is it a bumper off job? Thanks in advance. Daz

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Also.... The part number I have ordered is 996 511 05303. Looking at the new assembly there are 2 x 'U' to retain the 2 cables but also a 3rd release with a rubber grommet and an electrical connector. I didn't think the early 996's used an electronic release mechanism - maybe I've ordered the wrong part? Daz

POST 3Original post

The part is the same for all models .. the electric connector is for the latch micro switch .. interior light and alarm system use this . Pull the carpet back where it's up against the lock .. you'll see the connector and the bolts holding the lock in place .

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Your a star. Thanks E. Daz :thumb:

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cheers dude! All replaced and opening and closing like a good 'un. Noticed that the nylon grommets retaining the cables were very brittle. Thanks for all your help. Daz
