Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

More 986s than 996s really but theyre there. Unfortunately most of the parts are toast left to the sun and rain - full leather interiors in blues and tans, one nephrite long dead to the elements. Headlights smoked, brakes rusted, engines and gear boxes long gone. Curious though - if you had the opportunity - whats worth saving? Is saving a unique interior worth it - or a Forrest green soft top? Underbody panels and complete front trunks? 90% of the cars here had all those things, none of those things salvageable now.

POST 2Original post

Wheels...mirrors...lettering...maybe? A lot of rag tops...literally.

POST 3Original post

wheels, hoods, doors, trunk lids, spoilers, dash clusters, tail light lenses and housings, headlight lenses and housings, sway bars from the performance models, ... ??

POST 4Original post

Are there any Natural brown interiors in there? Dark Burl Wood pieces?

POST 6Original post

Theres also a 928 shark and some transaxle cars as well. Lots of bumpers and useful 996 . Glass even . Whole lot thats useful.

POST 7Original post

Is this the place up in northern Georgia? I think near Cleveland?

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yep I walked the whole yard and really struggled to determine was worth holding onto given my own experience, knowing at some point a good number of these cars will be off to the crusher to make room for the next batch. Keep in mind this is a business with overheads, limited space especially undercover and limited labor resources - the last part being a major reason you see all the rags. So you cant save everything and those things you can save need to be moved on. For me 911 amber taillights and orange indicator headlights, but not Boxster ones. Litonics for either model, paintable center consoles but maybe not the standard ones. No 4 spoke steering wheels but probably 3 spokes, Seems to me there will always be a steady flow of body panels, bulky and likely not worth saving. And some of the more common wheels might not be worth saving either - there are countless spare wheels there for example and how many of those does anyone need? It would be great to have a priority list of what to keep and make our community aware of so good parts arent lost. I want to stress this is not my business and I truly appreciate their focus on engines and gearboxes, Im a big fan of 996s and would love to see unique parts saved. I love Nephrite interiors for example and one car on the lot actually had one - had all the parts I needed for my SY 996. Alas it is now unusable. Of course my name is on list for the next one that comes through -

a few pieces on a 996 turbo - handbrakes, door covers and gearshift I think, on a tan interior - it was a black car that was wrapped in metallic viper green

A ~2009 Tahoe plowed into me going 45-50 while I was going 5. I had just started accelerating from a stop (Altima was hanging out of the median and blocked my lane). Tahoe driver claims her brakes failed. Sure Jan. No other traffic by me or her. I think she was buried in her phone. She was trying to run her jaw at me while I was trying to call emergency. I know right?

That must have been a big bang. Scary. There's a pandemic of texting and driving. Couple days ago on a single lane the oncoming car drifted over the yellow at me. I braked and moved over to the shoulder, ready to put it in the ditch, anything is better than a head on. The woman driving lifted her head from the phone and corrected at the last minute. It was so obvious. Idiots. Keep your head on a swivel.
