I have informed Stefan of this item and he will check the PIWIS machine in Denver to see if he can capture the code and if so then it can be added to the remote key function for his offering.

Does any one know how to disconnect the annoying seat belt chime?

As far as I could tell, there is only one screen for changing such parameters and it was super easy to find from the main screen; any tech would know.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

There are several topics already posted if you do a few searches (why oh why is the search tool not used/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/sad_smile.gif?). I think the answer to your question is 'no'.
Friendly aren't we? But it sounds like the answer is yes. I finally found this on another thread (after the 'seat belt chime' search did not turn anything up)
'yes, go to dealer. they need PIWIS machine. go to the 'coding' section. they can turn off the chime.I just had them do it.'
Mooty- Thanks for the 'friendly' advice!
John, your dealer actually turned it off? Many have reported that dealers will not do that? What dealer? (not trying to be unfriendly at all but there is are a lot of repeat questions that are already in the files if folks would just take advantage of them)
I just bought my Cayman S Friday and joined here tonight so every topic is new to me. I did not find anything when I searched 'seat belt chime' after checking just 'seat belt' and sifting through everything I finally found the reponse in the thread from a guy named 'Mooty' who claims they did it.
John, let us know if you are successful in getting your dealer to do this. There are a few here that would like that done. Glad to have you on board and congrads on the new Cayman.
I don't think they will turn it off, too much of legal issue, but please let us know if they do. I just think the buzzer is a little too loud an would like to find a way to mute it if possible.
i am in CA and sleepless in WA, both our dealer did it. my dealer didn't even pause to ask why, just did it on the spot.
pete, i can't find it right now, but you posted on one of the forums (maybe RL) with a much better description then what i had. if you dont mind, i can paste it here.
ive asked both dealerships in ATL and they refused to do it.
if you can post the number in CA or WA ill call them and ask specifically needs to be done
TIA
The info won't do you any good, it has to be done with a Porsche diagnostic computer.
I posted the info in a post about GT3 seats so do a search on 'GT3 seats'.

That is right. It appears you need find a dealer who will do it on thier PIWIS machine. They go to the 'coding' section and just turn off the chime.Finding the dealer who will do it is the tough thing...
I have informed Stefan of this item and he will check the PIWIS machine in Denver to see if he can capture the code and if so then it can be added to the remote key function for his offering. Sleepless do you recall which screen on the PIWIS where that item was found or what it was named?
I don't know the exact name, but I believe it said something like 'Programming' or 'Configuration' in the title. As far as I could tell, there is only one screen for changing such parameters and it was super easy to find from the main screen; any tech would know.
Thanks mooty I found that in another topic as well. What we are concerned about is the request to turn off the chime but NOT the airbag. Will the car throw a fuss or not if you just do the seatbelt but leave the airbags intact? We should know in a couple of days when we are back on a PIWIS tester.
Thanks for bringing this topic up. It is valuable information.
I still don't understand why someone gets scolded for bringing up an old topic. Why not skip the subject matter if you are not interested. Not everyone has time to read every topic every day. The seat belt chime was a great reminder to find out what is going on with that issue.
No scolding for bringing up an old topic. Just an encouragement to keep the new stuff to the orginal topic by using the
<u>search</u>
function. That way folks don't have to read many different topics to find what they want. It is just common sense.

FYI turning off the seatbelt chime requires the PIWIS machine and cannot be done from the comfort CAN bus that the Wilhelmy-IT remote key works on, two entirely separate systems. So if your dealer won't turn it off you are stuck with it.
My chime has been disabled. It is like driving an entire new car! I wear a seat belt all the time but the fact that the chime fires up instantly and in the drive-thru when you are getting your wallet out etc this became very imporatnt to me to fix. Without saying anything about who, what, where which could possibly be bad for 'who' and 'where', might I instead suggest a course of action-
Don't contact the service manager atyour localdealership. He usually won't bend the rules. Try working with a sales manager or salesman who has a good relationship with a service tech, or if you know a service tech personally offer them a little 'gift' for helping you rectify the annoying chime problem. A 'No' by one person means you just need to ask someone else. Be sure to have them only disable the 'chime' not the seatbelt itself. That would be bad because the belt tensioner is important in a wreck. (they are both in different 'coding' areas of the menu) I think it was 'warnings' or something like that.Good luck and remember money talks...and it is worth every penny.
Also- if you are buying a new Cayman, I would make this a condition of buying the car with the salesman and it will get done. I wish I would have paid attention to to it when I test drove it to save a little money and hassle.

I guess if you put it on before you crank and it and avoided drive-throughs you would never hear it.. My 'habits' had it driving me stir crazy. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/confused_smile.gif
No luck in Walnut Creek
I just spoke with my salesman, Chris Bartz, at Micheal Stead Porsche here in Walnut Creek.
He spoke with the techs, and was told that this dealership would not do it, liability and all.
I'm going to call him back and see if I can get them to do it if I sign a release of liability statement.
I got my dealer to try and do this and they charged me but couldn't get it to work. They said something like that they had been able to disarm the reminder, but not the chime itself.
They seemed like they would try again, but could anyone give us a better technical explanation of the exact procedure and exact commands they should use to turn it off?
