Suggestion

What most owners do - is to set the volume level to a pretty high level (it sets the amp level) and also set the front/rear fade as they like it for the car (again - sets the amp fade), then POWER OFF the original headunit.

Hell, I'd even install an older OEM single DIN Porsche stereo in the car and just use a cigarette lighter Bluetooth adapter if that's an option.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all - I recently purchased a 2004 Carrera 4s (my second one) and I'm in the process of modifying it to my liking. The car came with the full Bose audio system complete with factory navigation, amp, etc. As I'm 6'4" I need a more leg room, thus the CD storage console and old Nav system must go. I already have the deletion kit along with the new support frame from Pelican Parts that will enable me to relocate the HVAC controls and house a single DIN stereo. I don't have any interest in putting full screen NAV back into the car as single DIN head unit with Bluetooth capability will work fine (if that's an option). The question is, since the BOSE system is a fiber optic system, do I really have to ditch the original AMP and speakers and rewire the entire audio system OR is there another solution. Hell, I'd even install an older OEM single DIN Porsche stereo in the car and just use a cigarette lighter Bluetooth adapter if that's an option. If the group could offer any real advice on helping me solve this issue, it would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you all in advance - Mike

POST 2Original post

If you use a MOST adapter, you can run a regular radio and still keep the stock amp. This is what the PCCM+ units do.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Gotcha - and thank you. Do you lose sound quality or does the MOST adapter compensate for it?

POST 4Original post

The MOST adapter is a two channel (Left/Right) adapter ONLY - so you lose fader function. What most owners do - is to set the volume level to a pretty high level (it sets the amp level) and also set the front/rear fade as they like it for the car (again - sets the amp fade), then POWER OFF the original headunit. Then you install the new headunit. -Tom
