Anybody else have issues with the clock losing minutes on a fairly regular basis. I drive it daily and it's an annoyance in an otherwise great vehicle (Cayman S). Heck, GM can figure out how to make a clock that holds time; if they can, anybody can.
Do you have PCM? My digital clock was spot on until I installed PCM about 3 months ago and now my clock is about 3 minutes behind, so I seem to be losing about 1 minute per month. I have been told this has to do with PCM, but heck you'd think they would be able to update the clock via GPS from time to time, our Honda does that.
Then again the other theory is that the Germans are so precise that it is taking into account the slowing of the expansion of the universe and recalculating time based on relativistic formulas every time you start your car and whether you are driving with or against the earth's rotation...
I don't think I have any problem with clock accuracy in my PCM-equipped CS. I'll check later today.
Update: I checked and my PCM digital clock is dead on correct. I've never had to adjust it in the year I've had it (other than to set DST)
I don't have PCM and it's losing a minute a week. I'm setting it off the cell phone network time and Verizon is ususally dead on with the Naval Observatory - the gold standard.
Maybe you should slow down a little, so you don't have to deal with these relativistic time dilation issues....
The time on my PCM in my Cayman S has been accurate.
However, the PCM in my Cayenne S displays the time from noon to 12:59 as AM not PM. Known bug - never corrected.
I thought the PCM has the option to align the time with the GPS system?
On the original point: I agree that having a fast or slow clock is an annoyance and no excuse to get it wrong as it's such a cheap component. My Mini's clock was fast by about 0.5min/day and thisirritated me because I needed to reset it virtually every week. Thankfully the CS clock is spot on (and I have PCM).
