Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've seen "connector repair" kits which have a new connector and flying leads (usual places ebay etc) for Audi, VW, merc but cant see any specifically for Porsche.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm in the process of replacing my camshaft position sensor and the wiring connector has seen better days, a couple of the connections are suspect. I've seen "connector repair" kits which have a new connector and flying leads (usual places ebay etc) for Audi, VW, merc but cant see any specifically for Porsche. Does anybody know if these are reasonable generic as the sensor has a number of fitting applications.

POST 2Original post

Porsche use an awful lot of VW/Audi parts .. when it comes to wiring Porsche tends to say new loom required , no other parts available but VW actually sell the connections .. Search VW young man .. that's what i would do .. and no i'm not doing it for you

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks DeMort. What I've found so far is the sensor is shared with various Mercedes and the data sheet for the sensor (designed by Honeywell) is a 1GP6002 Data Sheet shows connections 1. +Ve 2. -Ve 3. O/p Ordered a merc connector from eBay £6 Internet is a wonderful thing sometimes.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sadly can't get enough reach on the broken sensor wire so will need to pull the loom back up into the engine bay to make good. Fortunately it looks like there is only plug coil (6) and another sensor connection to let go to allow the loom to be pulled back. What a pain.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

and She is fixed, for the grand cost of £9. Just to correct a statement in an earlier post and in case anybody else needs to rewire the camshaft sensor. The connector is a Mercedes item and the connections (marked on connector) are 1. -ve (Br\PK) 2. Signal (Rd\Gn) 3. +ve (Rd\V)

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
