I have BC racing coilovers and I set the car for GT3 spec which I think looks pretty decent.

I would also ditch the 245x35x18 front tires and run 235x40x18 on the 8.5s for many reasons.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, everyone. I run a fairly generous wheel/tire setup of 18x8.5 ET44 front and 18x11 ET60 rear on 245/35-18 and 295/30-18 Michelins respectively. In terms of clearance, would a 1-inch drop be too much for that? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Hey brother... So looking online I found these 2 links Link 1 - https://apexwheels.com/fitment-guide...VBhkQzZhDL1pRc Link 2 - https://www.renntech.org/topic/42431...re-size-check/ Basically, they got your exact same setup, but your ET pushes you about 3mm FURTHER out so you'd run into this even more So the real question is, do u have pictures? Also, what year and soforth is your car? 996.1's will more than likely require camber adjustment and or a fender rolling to get this fitment sitting pretty. 996.2 seems to have more room but IDK why... just a tidbit of knowledge I picked up somewhere along the way Give these a read (if u havent already) and I think youre set. Worst case scenario is just fender rolling and or camber adjusting... I think thats a small price to pay for THE LOOK

POST 3Original post

No but it will require adjustable rear toe bars. U may also have to camber the wheel more then the eccentrics allow. It will be close

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 20505092

Oh, I'm all about THE LOOK. If nothing else, I'm deeply superficial. So my 996 is a dot-1, and I suspected as much about the dot-2 having more room. Whatever the case, I don't fear fender rolling, but I worry a little about camber adjustment since I think my mechanic already had to change it for my rear wheels. Thanks for the help, though!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 20505093

Yeah, that's why I'm on the fence about it. The stock ride height is just a bit too high for my taste, but the potential rigamarole of chasing a slight drop does seem liketo quote an old bossa long way for a ham sandwich.

POST 6Original post

I have pretty much the same wheel setup that you are asking about. I have BC racing coilovers and I set the car for GT3 spec which I think looks pretty decent. The reason I didn't go lower is I have the LN solution on mine and damaged the oil feed line which resulted in losing all oil to the engine Luckily I shut her down in time, but after that I did raise her back up some. If I wasn't so paranoid I could def go lower. I rub in the rear but it seemed to clearances it self out lol.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 20505759

That is just about where I pictured mine sitting: not too low, just low enough. Also, thanks for including that bit about the LN solutionI was thinking about it myself!

POST 8Original post

Mine was super low when i bought it, running B16 coilovers and GT3 spec tyres. It was completely useless on NZ roads and would scrape everywhere over bumps/ curbs. I've since raised to GT3 specs and there is so much more useful compliance, coupled with a decent camber/alignment setup. Before/after:

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 20506174

Oh, yeah, that's extreme. My coccyx broke in two just looking at the original setup.

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 20506265

Lol, it wasnt actually that bad. But you had to be wary of even the smallest roadkill!

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 20506174

I really think the GT3 spec looks the best when lowering these cars. It's more aggressive but not too back jarring.

POST 12Original post

Agree, GT3 spec not only looks the best, but handles best versus a slammed 996 which looks silly as hell. I would also ditch the 245x35x18 front tires and run 235x40x18 on the 8.5s for many reasons. Keep the 295x30x18.

Yep 235/295 is a charm! I'm running 15mm spacers and a stud upgrade also.
