I've been lurking a bit and drooling on BGB posts. However, I'd like to swap these things myself. Any folk out there done the swap themselves?
No pdk here, I guess I can document the build here.
EDITED FOR ARCHIVAL PURPOSES
Thanks in advance.
If such a surgery can be performed and it's cost acceptable to you that would be a huge upgrade from I'm guessing it's (tiptronic)? If you do it, post pics, also do it for you not for a resale project or don't bother as what you are creating is going to be a personal desire car.
It's a caged roller with nothing in it.
As you can I see I'm starting an just above scratch.
Nothing real valuable to save here.
Engine is finally in it....
So yay! We have a DME, engine & chassis harness from a 2011 S.
We opted to just put a plain 6 speed in it due to lack of information.
Attempts to stuff a GT4 LSD transaxle were thwarted by lack of info, budget and time but the swap was attempted.
CV flanges are most definitely different, and GT4 CVs are unique as other 981 CVs did not fit.
We even drew up some tranny mount brackets
If anyone wants a GT4 LSD transaxle for cheap, hit me up.
We’re a bit stuck on what sort of modules are missing in front and in back.
Thanks in advance!
Progress has been made...
We have an engine, manual transmission, wiring harness, DME, immobilizer, column lock, key and ignition cylinder. The column lock, key, cylinder DME & immobilizer were purchased as a matched set but from a 2011 PDK car.
When I connect the battery, the instrument cluster displays "steering locked" yet the column lock is not locked, nor are the prongs extended. It will not crank or fire the fuel pump or release the key while powered up. I've checked the fuses and relays and cannot find an issue other than relay 15, pin 86 of the start relay only showing 7.5 volts and no voltage on relay pin 30 or 87. This makes me think the immobilizer system is still keeping me out. Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
Maybe the PDK has some output line that notify the ECU or Immobilizer what gear his in. This can stop the car from starting like automatic. Either find the line you need to terminate to satisfy the ECU, Another option, need to reprogram the ECU or the Immobilizer to have a standard transmission mated.
I'm with you on the BGB post. They do some amazing work. I like to do things myself also. So finding more people doing these types of swaps will help in the future when I am ready. Will keep up on your progress.
