Hey all!
I've got a line on some
987.2
CS shocks and springs to replace the
bilsteins
on my
987.1
S, but have yet to purchase them as I'm not 100% certain that they'll fit. I'd imagine there wouldn't be much in the way of major differences, but figured I'd consult the collective first to make sure.
Thanks for the input!
You might be able to determine this by checking the part numbers for stock suspension on the 987.1S and the 987.2S, if the numbers are the same - the suspension should be swappable. The only major differences I might expect to see would be spring rate/length - some might be different depending on how
Porsche
configured the car (special editions often had lower ride height.)
The suspension tuning might be slightly different, owing to weight differences between the .1 and .2 engines and transmissions, but the mounting points and geometry are identical. So, they will fit.

@deilenberger
: I did eventually check through this with a shop. It sounds like the major components are the same, so we should be in good shape! TBD on whether there's a major difference between the .1 and .2 tuning, but I'm planning on completing the install myself soon, so we should have our answer before too long.
@Croc'ed
: Interesting, do you remember off the top of your head if the .2 was lighter or heavier? Planning on keeping the old PSS9s for rebuild or resale, but won't get too far down either road until I verify that I like the new setup. I'm currently trying to decide whether or not to spend the money on new bump-stops for the OEM pair. They're in great shape, only 23k worth of use on them. While the rubber does seem to be in good shape, it's still 13 years old at this point. Any thoughts?
It's only conjecture on my part that the suspension tuning might be different, but I'd expect
Porsche
to fine-tune its suspension tunings to particular equipment combinations. The surest way to tell is to peruse the PET catalog, to compare spring, strut, and anti-roll bar part numbers between similarly-equipped
987.1
and
987.2
Caymans
, e.g.
Cayman S
3.4, 6-speed manual.
