Hi all!
First time poster, here, from central Illinois! Working to start modifying my
987.1
Boxster
that I inherited from my grandfather a few years ago.
At this point, I'm looking for a bumperette delete idea for the rear bumper. I've seen some DIY ones, but I'm afraid I'd screw that up for sure, or it would look tacky, so I'm looking for a panel to use-- I've seen some pics of ones sold through here so hoping I can find the person/group that makes and sells them.
In addition, I'm looking for a good spoiler for my
987.1
if anyone has any pics/suggestions.
Cheers!
CJ
Bumperette delete on a US 987 has a few issues. The bumperettes have some metal crash structure inside the plastic covers. To delete the bumperette requires hacking that structure off the car. That's probably doable - but it brings up a risk with insurance coverage if you have a rear-end hit. A savvy insurance adjuster probably will try to deny coverage, or limit it since the crash-protection built by the manufacturer has been altered.
Just thought a heads-up in case you hadn't considered that.
Personally, I find mine somewhat attractive - on a Carrara white, with them painted white. I don't find them at all offensive (black rubber would be) and they appear to me as part of the style of the rear. I know on some earlier models they were simply black rubber, unpainted. Those are generally ugly. Almost intentionally ugly.
BTW - CJ welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum. Here is the rear spoiler that I got from Composite Concepts.

If your crash bumpers are removed and you get into an accident insurance will not cover you… I’ve seen it happen to my friend with his huge FMIC he just had to have and needed to remove the front crash bar to mount it (idiot)… he rear ended someone during a rain event… ooopsy!!!! $orry… no insurance coverage
