Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

well dont have enough space to test flooring 5 and 6.
Leading evidence: 'Test flooring 5 and 6' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Test flooring 5 and 6' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

start off seems ok - no difference in the biting point.
Ok since yesterday my car started to develop a very distinc problem :
I was fooling around and noticed that in 3rd gear, when flooring it, between 4 and 5k rpm, the car doesnt transmit power to the wheels. all other gears seem fine.
I'll try to explain better :
start off seems ok - no difference in the biting point.
clutch neither heavier or lighter than usual.
start engage 1st, all ok
energetic until 2nd, all ok
energetic until 3rd all ok until it reaches 4000 ish rpm
then it seems that Im pressing the clutch ( which Im not ) from 4 to 5 ( like the car is loosing traction ) and then at 5000ish rpm it "grabs" traction again.
engage 4th , all ok
well dont have enough space to test flooring 5 and 6.
My car is a 996 twin turbo, 2001, manual.
What is this ? If I dont floor it, SOMEWHAT doesnt show this.
If I need to press full on the gas, and if I'm in 3rd, this happens.
What is this ? The so called clutch slip ? What ££££ I'm facing here ?
The other day I was driving well, vigousrly and this happen - I had the windows down and I had a smell of burned clutch although I wasnt pressing or depressing the clutch. Just going fast between 3 and 4. And not near the gear lever.
Cheers in advance
Classic clutch slip: Reason it only slips at 3-5,000 rpm is that is peak torque range. Will gradually slip over a wider torque range until one day it won't work at all!
Get it changed asap, as it will wear very very quickly once it's slipping at high engine speeds and you risk damage to the flywheel if it's down to the metal.
There is no mileage at which a clutch wears out - I've known one burned out completely just loading a brand new car on to a transporter, whereas I got 82,000 miles out the first clutch on my 993.
