Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi folks. Just bought a 2005 C2-1 2005 6-speed. Jaguar dealer appears to have overfilled the oil. The instrument gauge indicates level to top of chart (one block above full). Oil pressure reads 5 bar at 2000 rpm (owners manual says 3.5 bar at 5000 rpm expected). l don't know if overfilling the oil does impact the oil pressure or if that is a red herring. In any case, should I drain some oil or just let it burn off? Is there any reason to worry about running the car hard with too much oil? I know it was bad to overfill my old 3.2 because oil would slop into the intake. I had Porsche Victoria do a PPI and they said the oil was overfilled but did not recommend taking any action. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

Yes, when you overfill these engine's with oil, the AOS system can actually force the engine to inhale liquid oil, which will hydro lock the engine, killing it. Drain the excess of immediately

POST 3Original post

When the vehicle is cold it's not uncommon to see it idle at 5 bar. When was yours reading 5 bar? As suggested, since the dealer overfilled it I'd bring it back to them and ask them to make sure it's at the correct level.
