Had my clutch replaced on my 2003 996TT last year when it would not always hold the extra torque of the Revo remap.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Seems unfortunatly that I need to replace my clutch, few questions : My car is a 911/996 twin turbo 2001 - can I upgrade the clutch to something stronger ? my car is a NON X50, I believe that the X50 had a stronger clutch plate ( read it everywhere ), is it ok to put the X50 clutch on a non X50 car ? Anyone done it ? - any other items that I should have a look at to replace ? flywheel, etc ? since the gearbox is going to be out, what I need to ask to check as well ? - difference between indy and OPC to do this ? apart from the very obvious finantial one ? - any recommendation on the indys ? anyone replaced clutch recently ? again, my car is a turbo - what costs am I looking at here ? 1000 ? ish ? thanks

POST 2Original post

OPC's will be more pricey and as for the upgrade, std clutch is good, how many miles have you go on your original ? there are other bits you can do, but do you really need them ? although depending on the mileage there may be a case for the flywheel although others may be better placed to answer this as for which Indy, depends on where you are and where you can get to.... however a non turbo clutch is circa £800 but a Turbo clutch is £1350 mark fully fitted e.g. RSJ http://www.rsjsportscars.co.uk/service-centre/?smodel=2

POST 3Original post

Had my clutch replaced on my 2003 996TT last year when it would not always hold the extra torque of the Revo remap. The car had done 35k on the original clutch. Checked the part numbers of the clutch for the X50 and they were the same as the standard TT so not upgraded. Had it replaced at an Indie as clearly non-warranty but stayed with OEM parts. No need to replace the flywheel unless worn - you won't know until it is removed but unlikely unless you have been abusing it with a worn clutch plate. The kit was £400 and I negotiated a rate of £60/hour. The book time was 6 hours. Total was therefore £760 - there would be VAT on top unless.... HTH
