I got all four tyres replaced recently (with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 N1's) and although I was happy to stick with 265/35/18 on my rears I got these for £620 fitted price inc VAT!

The later facelifted cars were fitted with 285/30-18 - the earlier cars were fitted with 265/35-18, but can be fitted with the 285s.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hurumph :x
Just got back from a 400mile round trip for two weddings yesterday (after my 2k ring & Spa trip two weeks ago!) and I get 2 miles from home and pick up a puncture.
I noticed something was funny but as I live in London and the last 2 miles were under 20mph I didn't know it was a puncture till I got home. However, upon checking I would appear to have managed to pick up a 2-3 inch piece of metal in my rear offside tyre! [I'll try and get a picture of it when the camera has charged]
I currently have Michelin Pilot Sports on all round at present and have been pretty happy with them (not that I have experienced anything else since they came with the car). I'm either going to replace them with like for like or maybe the PS2s. However, upon checking at Simply Tyres they appear to stock them in a different size to what's currently fitted :?
So I have the following questions:
1 - I have carrera alloys and have 285/30/18s on at the moment yet simply tyres recommends 265/35/18.....
What other sizes have others got?
2 - assuming I need to replace both tyres (I would think the current ones are more than 30% worn) is there any issues having different makes from front to back (i.e. the MICHELIN PILOT SPORT vs. the MICHELIN PILOT SPORT PS2)?
3 - I see simply tyres have a link from 911uk and price match - anyone else got any recommendations that will also do mobile fitment?
Ok thanks in advance you knowledgeable lot

I had the same question last week wrt my 99 C4 (pre-facelift) which was fitted with 285s also. I went for 285 Mich Pilot Sports and don't regret it, as I think 265s would be too narrow for the 10J rims.

Hi Bill - cheers for the information :thumb:
I will go for the 285s I think although am still unsure as to whether stick with the pilot sports or to try the PS2s.
£832 does seem particularly good value - At the moment it's looking about £600for the 2....
£600 for 2?!!!! Does it have to be mobile fitting? Where in London are you? There must be a garage somewhere where you can stick the space saver on and get to...
Was going to say much the same regarding the price!!!

Where are you finding the tyres at such good price, as the fitting is only £30 of that price?!
FYI I'm very central (Oval) so should be plenty of places that could do it (or should I take it somewhere special sorry - not sure
)
I believe Trade Tyres in Guildford are affiliated with Micheldever, but a lot closer to London. Either way, the prices are very similar...so would recommend.
I picked up a pair of PS2 (17") recently for a total of £314 inclusive.
265 and 285s are fine for the 10J wheel. Some earlier 996 on 10J rears (eg. GT3) came with 265s....it's within the specification of the tyre/wheel and interchangeable.
Hi from Morocco guys.....£600 for two tyres? Just before I left for holiday, I was quoted £190 each for brand new Bridgestone 285/30/18 N1 rated tyres incl balancing, fitting, VAT and disposal of old tyres from a fitter in Herts - where I live. I was assured this was a good deal but wasn,t quite sure at the time if the seller was trying to get the business. However after reading this thread, I will be going for these. Group buy anyone? We might be able to get a discount. I am looking to fit in early Sept.
Cheers all,
Maxie
Ok will check the tradetyres and report back....
re group buy - sounds like a plan except I'm going to need them this week as I'm not driving around on the spacesaver!
Tyres
At the risk of throwing a cat amongst the pidgeons has anyone tried TOYO T1R tyres available from Camskill online. Somewhere in the region of £500 per set
Toyo supply the 888road/track tyres used for Porsche racing and have a good reputation.
I have used them on other vehicles and have found them to very grippy and reasonably hard wearing.
Any views?
Re: Tyres
I've also used the T1rs on my old hot hatch and found them pretty good....BUT not heard any reviews re the Porsche
