Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
My advice is buy on condition (this is key - price should not be the primary factor) and have it inspected by a reputable third party (Peter Morgan or other).

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Been made aware of a nice 996 turbo that someone wants to dispose of at what seems to me to be the right money. Its w-reg so pre face and lower tax, all that malarkey and a good opc service history. 75k on it, which is not excessive but higher than I wanted.
Anything I should be watching out for/looking at ?
...and one final thing, if anyone can help, why are the engines on the turbo's more seen of in the 'bombproof' category?
any guidance gratefully recieved peeps :thumb:
Hi there mate,
These topic is lying here quite for a while now ( per forum standards ) because this question has been answered to death... just do a quick search and you'll see plenty of replies and similar posts.
Buy on condition and pref with warranty - they were expensive cars and carry expensive parts.
They are the bargain of the moment - bags of power for silly low price.
Get the car inspected by Peter Morgan ( he inspected mine, higly recommended ) or similar, this is a MUST.
Engines are usually bombproff - they are the last of the handbuilt turbo engines, derieved from the GT1 block.
75k is ok, not excessive high.
Good OPC history is a must. W reg are the best :food:
Let me know if anything else you need help with

A good quality Turbo at today's prices is a bargain!
Just expect to get less for your car as well though. That's the issue people think of trading up as they can see some deals but aren't always prepared for how much their car has dropped!
And to put that into context.....I just traded my 2003 996 Black/Black manual TT (with 40k miles, FSH and OPC warranty) for less than £35k against a 2007 997 TT....my ass is still sore
.
996 tt are bulletproof cars. I bought mine with 20K miles a few months ago from a reputable indie and had it inspected by Peter Morgan (his conclusion was that it was a very good /exceptional example). This is the best car I ever owned although because of work commitments I do not drive it as much as I would like. I cannot see anything wrong with it. My advice is buy on condition (this is key - price should not be the primary factor) and have it inspected by a reputable third party (Peter Morgan or other).
