Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
Funny that there didn't seem to be an oil leak  Bet that warranty claim won't be thrown out by Porsche - after all, how do you prove that a car DIDN'T have an oil leak after you've replaced the oil seal?
Leading evidence: 'Replace oil seal' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace oil seal' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. The other is an over-rev by down changing when the engine is not ready for it.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

OK
just had the annual service... at OPC cardiff.... service manager didnt realise i had Porsche warranty and gives me a list of probs found
RMS (again only done for the second time 14 months ago, is this normal ??) Headlamp washers inop, oil press sensor (intermitent fault) hand brake release button pops out !
OK i get RMS is covered, but service manger "is not sure" wether the other parts are.... he has been 'with the product' for 20 years... i would know this, wouldn you?
Are these parts covered... the window wasnt.... :? but then i have a feeling not much is covered really... I have also heard that if your engine goes pop Porsche spend time arguing that the car has been over revved to above 8k has nayone else heard of this
cheers Paul
RMS is usual - the crankcase design is at fault. As for the engine revs, the ECU will record two kinds of fault; one is the over-rev on accelleration when the rev limiter cuts in. The other is an over-rev by down changing when the engine is not ready for it. Cutting the fuel supply will do nothing for this as the mechanics make it rev too high. That's the one that can affect the warranty.
Just play hardball and tell them you believe all the items are warranty (which ome of them are, as posted above). If they refuse a few of them, simply tell them you will get the work done elsewhere, and then get it done at an indy. This kind of behaviour from OPCs is pretty normal unfortunately (but there are exceptions to the rule... just nowhere near me).
I have had oil pressure sensor fixed under warranty, PM me if you need details of OPC etc.
OPC Cardiff have a good reputation for service but this is not the first time i have heard of that they have initially claimed faults are not covered under warranty that other OPCs fix without problem. They usually come good though, so as Josh says be firm and claim you know of other Porsche owners who have had this done FOC at other OPCs under warranty.
Thanks for that
OPC Cardiff have fixed the RMS and pressure sensor on warranty, excuse, the warranty person is on hols so couldnt tell them if these items were covered.
OK, so are the headlamp washers and handbrake parts covered, OPC Cardiff say NO....
Why is the RMS sooo susceptable to failure.. beats me
cheers Paul
Re: Thanks for that
Design fault with the 996 and 997s. 997s (I believe) have an up-rated RMS that means faults are less likely.
I've read that it's possible to put a better part on, but fundamentally, you're stuck with it unfortunately.
Re: rms
The RMS is just a Rear Main Seal, a few drops of oil on your drive/garage, pretty much the same with 964 or earlier car.
It's not catastrophic, it's not the end of the world, it doesn't mean your engine is going to die. The internet has just raised it's profile beyond belief.
Re: rms
... but it is a great source of workshop revenue if your car is under warranty
And almost impossible to disprove in a warranty audit - as the old 'faulty' seal is permanently damaged on removal, so no-one can tell whether it was actually faulty or not :hand:
Hi,
I bought my C4S from Cardiff OPC had warranty work done with no fuss. However it does appear in dealerships there is a very defined division of labour!!! Dependent on your role you can only answer questions in that arena. Overall Cardiff OPC by all accounts are good compared to some of the horror stories posted here.
If you PM me with your email I will see if I can find the warranty list for you.
Cheers Alan.
Just had my car's RMS fixed under warranty and there was no oil dripping on the garage floor, absolutely nothing - picked up during service by OPC.
Does anyone know if there is a 'Warranty' on work done under the Porsche warranty, as if it was to go again I'd have to pay for it or leave it as the OP warranty could not be renewed this time on my car?
Regards
J
yeah, there is a year's parts warranty - for the person who paid for the job - i.e. Porsche :hand:
Sorry, but no in other words!

Nice one OPC - another £500 on the bottom line!
