Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anyone seen or installed a more substantial spoiler that the one that comes stock? Even the one from Techart doesn't look that much different. I would love to see the GT2, GT3 or Turbo look but have not seen anything yet for the Cayman. Something like this...

Although it's hard to tell just by eyeball, the Techart front and rear spoilers look about right to me; adding some additional lift reduction (downforce) at each end without significantly increasing drag.
I love it when I see the ricers cruising around with wings that are half the size of their car. Most of them look like they will provide lift rather than down force. The Cayman is a beautiful car. Don't 'Jersey' the Cayman. If you are building a track car, there are a lot of guys on this site with extensive track time. In all of the stories/posts I have not heard a peep about lift. I would think you would have to significantly increase the power before an enhanced wing would make a difference. I am not trying to define what anyone else's dream should be, just offering my opinion about what a well thought out and beautiful car the CS is w/o any add ons. IMO, the best way to have your CS looking more aggressive is lowering it, popping on some spacersand adding some ground effect and maybe a new front facia.
I agree wholeheartedly with Fadiboy. The thing that really attracts me to the Cayman is that it looks FAST without saying "RICE." It looks very classy the way it is. This is the main reason I chose it over a 911. An M3 owner asked me on Saturday "Is it fast?" and my answer was that it was fast enough for me. The only cosmetic changes I have made are to use clear side markers and chromed bolts. Other than that, I plan no exterior modifications.
John,
F/L makes a stock 'looking' spoiler that is slightly larger than the stock one. Check out the F/L Cayman GTR pics in Excellence magazine or their site. I emailed them a few weeks ago about price, I believe they were asking ~$1400 for the carbon fiber version, and it bolts in place of the stock one

What is the point in junking up the look with a device that shouts 'racer wanta be' and actually is destroying gas mileage and aerodynamicsif not properly tested? Seems about as useful as the 'ricers' that I see around here that insist on putting bigger wheels/tires on the back end of front wheel drive cars (I don't think I have ever seen anyone under 20 driving afront wheel drive car inSanta Fe that didn't have this treatment). There is a point when modifications don't help the car but doimprove the ego of the owner I suppose.
Don't shoot the messenger please. I'm just answering a perfectly valid question. Each person has their own tastes and opinions, just as you do, and should be allowed to express or inquire about whatever they wish on this board. This is, afterall, the modifications forum...
Dave
You are correct Dave, I was really focusing to the 'ricer look' not John's wing idea. Sorry if I confused.
We do have a 'ricer' base 911 that visits from out of state in the summer. It is lowered below what any reputable tuner would do, has some sort of exhaust that booms instead of making music and has a plastic body kit of front, rear and side spoilers glued to it that give the 'look at me' boy racer look. All of us car guys just roll our eyes when hebounces up. It is in the eye of the beholder but some can do mods and some can't.

Strosek makes a slightly taller version of the factory spoiler, if i were to change out the rear spoiler i would want a spoiler that is the same size, but rises an inch or two higher, no more.
The 'ricer' look is not for me either but I look foward to having more than 2-3 options for the rear spoiler. The 911 has so many options mostly because it has been around forever and has a bigger marketing base to provide product to. I am sure we will see more options in the months ahead that look great and offer even better aero than stock. I still can't believe there are not more options already.
johnb21 - You really might want to look at what I would call (for lack of a better term) an 'integrated or complete' solution to your look/aero needs. Putting a bigger wing with more aerodynamic down force might look better to your eye, but without a corresponding treatment to the front of the car, you're going to increase lift in the front, and understeer. If you are ever thinking of driving your car in the medium to upper reaches of it's top speed capabilities, it's something to pay attention to - you don't want to increase lift on the front end of the car at high speeds, even though it's a better looking wing. And, I'll be willing to bet a good number of the folks producing the spoilers may have a corresponding aero solution for the front, too, I would caution that they may not have been actually tested in a wind tunnel.
I remember back in the day, it was quite fashionable to put the big whale tail wings on the back end of a 1978-83 911sc, and people were doing it all the time without putting on the much deeper front air dam necessary to cancel the resulting lift to the front end at speed, and they were driving their cars off the road right and left because of it...

I agree. Once I find the right rear spoiler then I will select the front spoiler. Ther are a lot of good front ones out there. It is the rear I am having problem finding.
Again I agree. I don't want to big but not too small either. The stock spoiler on the CS is a little weak in my opinion but it is a personal taste issue.
