Morning - in the process of changing my handbrake lever, I noticed a small hole on the black plastic - about where your left index finger knuckle would be if you were applying the handbrake.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Morning - in the process of changing my handbrake lever, I noticed a small hole on the black plastic - about where your left index finger knuckle would be if you were applying the handbrake. On undoing the cover, I've found an LED waving in the breeze underneath that I think used to go there - the little plastic collar was broken. Any clues what it is, and is it worth sticking back in? Thanks! Jon

POST 2Original post

It will be from an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser that may have been removed.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks - I've stuck it back anyway. An LED that does nowt still better than a black hole!

POST 4Original post

It might be one of those soft lighting led, or something to such affect? :?

POST 5Original post

Do you have an ash tray or just an open tray? It could be the light from inside the ashtray that has been repositioned. Friend of mine had this on his TB

POST 6Original post

993s had an immobiliser fitted by dealers prior to delivery to the customer. IIRC my 993 had an LED on the centre console which flashed when the car was locked. Maybe that's what it is/was, and someone has disconnected the immobiliser.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Mystery soved - it does flash when the car is locked, so thanks for the explanations! Jon
