I must say, however, that having replaced the pretty nice OEM Miata leather wheel with a Momo, and despite liking the Momo alot, I like the stock Porsche wheel better--at least on the 930.

I wouldn't do it for safety reasons. Most if not all aftermarket steering wheels disable the airbag. You need the airbag unless you're going to use the Cayman for racing only.

techart steering wheel has airbag. i don't know how much it cost though. looks very similar to OEM, so I wouldn't bother.

Seems to me you'd need the airbag more if you're going racing--not less. But really, now--don't you have to play off safety and fun? How much does an airbag really add if you wear your shoulder belt? Or a racing harness? Ever see an F1 car with an airbag? Think the drivers and FIA would mandate them if they thought they added anything? In a high-speed crash, they can't deploy fast enough to do you any good anyway. My 1978 930 has no airbag. Should I retrofit one? Took the airbag wheel off my miata (put on a Momo jet), but added a roll bar and racing harnesses. Am I overall less safe? Should all of us convertible drivers sell our cars, and buy a coupe or sedan--for safety? Should we all sell our Porsches, and buy Volvos? SUVs? I must say, however, that having replaced the pretty nice OEM Miata leather wheel with a Momo, and despite liking the Momo alot, I like the stock Porsche wheel better--at least on the 930.
