Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Everyone, I'm after new rubber all round and would appriciate your thoughts and comments... any any experience with the tyres below, so far my choice's are: Pirelli Rosso (already on car) Michelin PS2 Toyo R888 I dont really use the car much in the rain, or do a huge amount of miles, also any recommendations for a supplier would be great, i'm based in cheshire, but can go further a field. Thanks

POST 2Original post

I have Pzeros on mine, which are excellent- quiet, grippy and progressive, and long-lasting. Fine all year round. Michelin PS2s are very good too- had them on my 993, again fine all year round. Toyo R888 is, I believe a more 'performance oriented' tyre and a great drive, but v noisy for road use, and you'd need to check how suited it was to all-year road use. No experience of these, but some on here do have them.

POST 3Original post

are you an n-rated believer? If not, you should go for one of the latest tyres reviewed by Autocar or EVO. I did, and went for the Vredesteins. http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2007-autocar-tyre-test.htm http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2007-evo-tyre-test.htm In n-rated, most people say the Pilot Sport is best, then Conti then Pirelli. I've got some Bridgestone S-02 (N3) for the track, and they are very good when warmed, but not as good as Continental SportContact2 (N2) for road use.

POST 4Original post

Are any of you NA 996 guys running Toyos on track days? I read a few posts stating that was a no-no due to the prolonged increase in Gforces (with the Toyo's added grip) causing oil surge problems resulting in potential catastrophic failures. Could just be internet BS though... :?:

POST 5Original post

I think you're right, that not only sounds like Internet BS, but smells like it too.

POST 7Original post

Hi and welcome! Michelin PS2s are the best all round tyre for the 996. Pirelli Rossos are not very suitable for the 996 imho and are noticeably inferior to the PS2s at even moderate pace.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Everyone, Thanks for the comments, PS2's seem a good choice, next question!.. where is the best place to get them, either supply only or fitted?! Cheers
