Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ignition on and the heater panel display flashes 9 or 10 times .. I was trying to fix this on a bit of a messed up PCCM install where by the 12 volt amp switch had been turned on on a CAN Bus system which as the warning message says .. Vehicle damage may occur if incorrect setting ... rule of thumb 2003 onwards is Can with upto 2002 being amp switch or amp in the option box . Anyways after a bit of research it seems this can happen after a new or second hand heater display has been fitted . It seems there often is no fault code which has confused dealers and there is no real fix that i could find whilst googling ( yes .. even i search google at times !! ) Ok so my heater had a fault code stuck in it for no comms with the PCM .. obviously this was no longer fitted as a new PCCM was and i needed to get rid of this code before the next step . In coding for the a/c unit .. PCM was coded off but a fault code for no comms with the pcm so obviously this is incorrect .. I coded it to PCM installed and could clear the fault code ( basically the description is wrong .. on is not installed and off is installed ) . You then go into system check .. this does a bit more than just check the entire a/c system , as far as i'm aware it sets the end points ( calibration ) for all the drive motors . I ran this test twice with no error codes , i then coded PCM to not installed and had the PCM communication fault code return . Lock the car and wait 1 min .. unlock and no more flashing of the heater panel . For anyone without a PCCM then just do a system check using a tester and lock / unlock the car ... that should work . There is no option to put a chassis number in this control unit which has been suggested on some forums .. so it's not that !
