Hi everyone! Is this the same sound as the famous water pump problem the 987s have? Did anyone experience a similar noise? It is most prominent between 2000 and 4000 RPM. It occurs both when the car is stationary in neutral or when moving. It sounds like the whine changes pitch with RPM, like a rotational, speed related whine. I would inspect all the belt driven items including the tensioners and rollers as a starting point.

Got exactly the same thing but on a cayenne S. Mechanic says it's normal. As far it concerns to me this is not normal on a car like this..... Got some replies saying might be the vane pump.
