Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

I did it the hard way and stripped the rubber off my seat backs, which had the same coating on them, and prepped as you would normally for painting bare plastic, I also got a smoother finish doing it this was and using 2k lacquer

Okay I know the finish, to get it smooth you will either need to smooth it first or use plastic primer and some kind of filler/putty primer to build it up to a smooth surface

Using spray filler will give decent results just put it on in thin layers until it has built up and flat back ready for primer and top coat

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was wondering if it is possible to paint the granite grey centre console and horseshoe. As the texture seems a bit unique does it gets all smooth when you paint it? Also the back of the hardback sport seats as well. Anyone managed it?

POST 2Original post

I've done it with my 997. People normally spray them the same colour as the car. I have some pictures with mine apart plus there's a video on YouTube telling how to take the seats apart. Edit, I'm referring to the seats and centre console.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Isnt the material different between the 997 console and seats than the early 996s with the granite type interior? Will it work the same?

POST 4Original post

Maybe you could post some pictures of the bits you want to do?? I must be honest when you say granite I imagine grey but maybe it's slightly different with a texture? Which I'm guessing is the part your concerned about.

POST 5Original post

You can get special primer for the rubberised coating but I doubt you will get a perfectly smooth finish? I did it the hard way and stripped the rubber off my seat backs, which had the same coating on them, and prepped as you would normally for painting bare plastic, I also got a smoother finish doing it this was and using 2k lacquer

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

But the material is not the rubberised one. It is a bit rough. Actually it looks very hard wearing. You can see the material here: https://cdn.rosepassion.com/9965521...5212503d05COP.jpg?w=1920&h=1080&format=jpg-95 It is a bit rough when you touch it and not exactly smooth. I had a 996 C4s which had silver console which was smooth to touch while this differs

POST 7Original post

Okay I know the finish, to get it smooth you will either need to smooth it first or use plastic primer and some kind of filler/putty primer to build it up to a smooth surface

POST 8Original post

I've just sent my granite grey bits to wicked coatings for dipping. I'll post up some pics when the stuff comes back if anyone is interested. I've also just had some more stuff trimmed by Royal. Apologies to op not wanting to crash the thread, just always interested in other people's interior mods.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's what i thought, but i feel it will be a bit messy to use the filler on it. Maybe will be better to get a used scratched up painted one and try to recondition that one then! @Parsley I will be waiting for your photos, Sounds interesting! Even though I am located in Cyprus i can get an idea and locate someone here that might make the same.

POST 10Original post

I'll get a few pics up when the stuff comes back, might give people a few ideas.

POST 11Original post

Using spray filler will give decent results just put it on in thin layers until it has built up and flat back ready for primer and top coat
