Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

After taking apart my Porsche to repair windshield washer bottle 5 times now I finally found my issue. I replaced my grommets tried some hose clamps and careful reassembly multiple times. Tonight the problem finally showed itself when washer fluid began leaking from a seam in the pump right in front of me. I ordered a new one on Pelican Parts for $19 so I had to do an autopsy. I think my pump might have been bad.

POST 2Original post

hey there mainsoda, I also just replaced my washer pump a couple of months ago.... had the exact same issue - where it leaked from the body of the pump in a location similar to yours. wow the internals look terrible...just glad it wasn't too expensive. first noticed it when my washer fluid tank had to be topped up every couple of days and later just pooled water under the right fender (when looking at the car straight on).

POST 3Original post

Since fluid got into the motor I'd assume the shaft seal has failed. Not uncommon.

POST 4Original post

Here's a laugh for you guys, I don't even know if mine works, I've never hit the squirters. The car is only out in good weather and washed and waxed to death and I prefer a more complete and effective windshield clean than wipers & fluid offer.... I guess I will try it now...

POST 5Original post

You know I am almost in the same boat. I don't really care if the pump works or if I have washer fluid in my car, all I want to do is get the warning off my instrument cluster that flashes "washer fluid low" every day!

POST 7Original post

if you have a Porsche you should drive it whatever the weather and when ever you can! drive it in the rain, torrential storms, cross country adventures, night drives and many more. The washer and wipers become essential to that adventure especially in the tropics....

POST 8Original post

Follow up: got my new $19 pump today, put it in fast cause I'm way too good at taking the washer bottle out of my car at this point, and my leak is completely and in all ways finally fixed and my cluster error is gone forever. Life is good.
