I've just had some new front brake pads delivered from ECP, they are Brembos and were marked "Manufacturer exclusion - Carrera 4S only" in the spec when I ordered them. However, they don't have the counterweights at the top like my current ones... I presume these are to reduce squeal or something- will that be a problem? Have they sent the wrong ones?? If they have the anti vibration shims does it need them anyway?

With you, thought as much. I know that both my Ferodo didn't have them, with no ill affect. Sorry, did you say what make the ones that did have those bits on are? All the Brembo pads I bought in the past had those bits.

That's reassuring if you've had some without counterweights and it was ok. If you look on Autodoc and search for Carrera 4S pads, then some have counterweights, some don't. The ones it had fitted when I got it had them, and the Pagid replacements from ECP also did. The Brembos I got don't, but there is a Brembo set available on Autodoc that do. All very confusing. Just trying to get a handle on whether the counterweights actually make much difference.
