Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all Can't seem to find any videos (on YouTube) showing full process of replacing exhaust heat shields for the Turbo - only vids I can find are for NA's. The intercoolers are in the way or am I missing something???

POST 2Original post

The heat shields for the turbo are wrapped around them , they use the turbo nuts which are prone to corrosion and as such will no longer be the 13mm nut they once used to be .. In short .. yes these can be a pain involving burning off the old nuts and often having to replace the studs .. not really a diy item unless you have the equipment .

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just to be sure I'm talking about the correct heat shields - this is one I bought to replace And also is a pic of bumper removed....

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

These are what I bought: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274880716939 "Porsche 911 996 C4S & Turbo Rear Bumper Brackets Exhaust Heat Shields"

POST 5Original post

Ok .. hmm .. not what i thought then .. They are not turbo items and im unsure why they are listed as such ... obviously a C4 and a turbo with intercoolers are totally different so they can't be the same as a C4 has no intercoolers as per the ebay listing description. Those heat shields are for a non turbo basically . Picture of the items is below for your car .. 37 is in a sense the heat shield for the bumper / PU but it is not that item you have bought ... 37 sits behind the intercooler . Also a picture like yours of a bumper off and what it looks like . What's the problem you are trying to solve please ?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

@deMort The car is going in for a service at 911SBD later this morning - I'll get a couple of pictures later Thanks again in the meantime - I have relayed your reply to the eBay seller

POST 7Original post

Have a lol through my build thread (in sig) I replaced / removed my heat shields when replacing my turbos. It's the large thin piece of aluminium sheet isn't it? I had to replace one of mine as the bolt holes had corroded and was surprised how reasonably priced they were.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

@Rosselder83 It's not the turbo heatshields that I needed.... I've yet to get pix of the offending shielding. Great build thread BTW :worship:
