Be very careful with PCCBs as a replacement set can cost upwards of $25k with OEM parts.

I think the seat belt has that for fooling the airbag system using a 997 receptacle with the 996 seat wiring.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi, I'm looking to purchase my first 911. I live in Seoul, Korea and saw an ad for a 996 Turbo. I was wondering if there's anything I should look out for when purchasing the 996. It doesn't say how many owners it had previously, any feedback, comment would be appreciated. Thanks.

X50 package
No collision/damage
USD $58,000
OP - The car has PCCB, so the rotors can’t have any defects. 997 2-way sport seats are a nice upgrade. Tip is good for traffic congestion in RoK. No sport exhaust, but X50. X50 is rare for a Tip. The car appears to be pampered. My take is previous owner was a Porsche person. Sensible seat upgrade, clear corner lights, general condition speak to that. Price is very good.
Carbon brakes are nice and you can always put steel rotors on. You could drive it and probably recoup your entire purchase at any time.
Great price in relation to buying the same car (X50) in the US in such good condition. Check into Bring a Trailers (BAT) website for comparables. Doubt you will see a car like that for a price like that for long.
IMHO, that car here, even though it is a TIP, would still fetch
at least
$65,000 due to the very low mileage. If that car was here, for that price, I would definitely buy it. Would probably have to sleep in it for quite a while as I just bought one, but eventually my wife would get over it (I think).
Would definitely get the car inspected, especially the brake rotors (cracks, pitting, etc) and a brake pad measurement (either isn't cheap) and ask about maintenance documentation. The more paperwork, the better. Also, ask about and know the local tax, registration and road use laws and costs. In some countries, the higher the displacement of the engine, the higher the taxes and road use fees.
Price almost seems to good to be true,,, around here anyway. Its optioned out nice
If it passes a detailed ppi I'd buy in a heart beat. Been looking for 1. Don't sleep on this one, if its the real deal it would been gone here in hours for that price. The tip works very well with the turbo
Market prices vary wildly from one region to another so it's very hard to precisely tell how good a deal that one is, unless we have other RoK ads for similar cars to compare it with. However, I agree that it seems cheap, especially compared to EU prices.
Be very careful with PCCBs as a replacement set can cost upwards of $25k with OEM parts. But as others pointed out, there are some cheaper options (either non-Porsche PCCB or steel rotors).
It seems to have been well-cared for, but the lack of ownership history, low miles & low price would make me want to double check everything before purchasing.
Also:
-look out for a collapsed seat as the seatbelt receptacle extension seems to indicate it could have had a plus-plus-sized owner in it. It's an easy fix though.
-is it normal to see 1.5 bar oil pressure on pic #4, even though the engine is off?
Good catch...
No, don't believe showing op when engine is off is normal on any engine/car without a dry sump system or accusump type system.
Seems the key/ign switch is in the on position with engine off, so the dry sump has been activated.
One of the Mr Mezger engine's HUGE very beneficial differences from the m96, is the Mezger dry sump. No dry starts, immediate oil pressure. Yup, its a real Porsche race engine designed by maybe the best engine architect of all times that created if not the best, then one of the best engines ever made for the public...
