Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. I had a similar thing with new Brembo discs and pads on my 986S and when I checked the mating faces and disc run-out and all seemed to be fine but the issue remained.
Leading evidence: 'Check mating faces and disc' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check discs' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. I changed the front discs and pads on my 4S a few months ago and seem to have introduced some vibration when braking.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Outcome without a verified action link
Refitted and absolutely no difference, still a tremor through the steering and car.

I changed the front discs and pads on my 4S a few months ago and seem to have introduced some vibration when braking. They are Pagid discs and pads.
Anything I might have done wrong which I should re check?
Perhaps connected, I've noticed the nearside disc has a 5mm 'circle' by the hub, as if the pad is not making proper contact.
Any thoughts gratefully received.
Ta.
Cheers Alex, will get out my wire brush again and make sure the discs are seated properly.
Any thoughts on the apparent lack of pad contact nr the hub, or will it improve as the pads wear in?
Download the service manual because it goes through the install and specs - I forgot what the lateral runout was but I had to return a set of discs back because although it was to Brembo's spec, it was not to Porsche's spec. The hub needs a thorough clean. And don't forget the anti vibration shims between the pistons and pads.
Thanks... will do. Had hoped it might improve as it bedded in but no joy. Rubbish weather tomorrow so will take the discs off and re-do. I fitted new anti vibration pads.
I imagine I will need some gadget to measure the disc runout, or is there a work-around?
Did you follow the full Brembo bedding in process?
I had a similar thing with new Brembo discs and pads on my 986S and when I checked the mating faces and disc run-out and all seemed to be fine but the issue remained.
Further reading suggested that it might have been pad material pick-up on the discs through not following the proper Brembo prescribed process, so I followed some online advice to rectify the issue...essentially getting the discs good and warm and then doing a few XXXmph to 0mph brisk stops, which seemed to work.
Yesterday afternoon I removed the discs, gave the hubs a good scrub with a wire brush and brake cleaner and refitted. The disc surfaces looked like they were wearing in OK on both sides. Pad surfaces looked fine. Refitted and absolutely no difference, still a tremor through the steering and car.
So gave the brakes a damn good thrashing- multiple hard braking as suggested by roboxm3 above, from high speeds but still just the same.
Given the car felt fine before I changed the discs/pads, I can only imagine one or both discs is not true - its booked in for MOT tomorrow; is any garage likely to be able to measure disc run-out?
Got front discs, pads, sensors and shims for £180, in one of CP4Sless's 20% sales.
Anyhow, MOT garage have told me that the discs are defo out of true. Whats more, they noted my high speed bedding-in has made the discs surface go blue so ECP would be v unlikely to refund! Plainly not fit for purpose. I will bin them and replace the discs and pads at some point.
And it had an advisory on the brake lines, so they all need doing and the aircon low pressure line has a leak. For 2,000 miles a year driving round the crap crowded roads in South Oxfordshire I'm seriously wondering if I can be bothered anymore!
