Just took delivery on a 2017 911S. The car is beautiful and I'm really enjoying it. The one minor concern I have is the hard feel of the drivers seat especially lower back area where the back of the seat meets the seat surface. I've owned two 911's and have not noticed the seats being as firm. I have the 14 way seats. I also tried to deflate the lumbar support as much as possible. Has anyone encountered this? If so, is there any fix that could be done or somehow adding a small amount of extra padding? Thanks
I also have the 14-way seats and I’ve noticed that it is hard to get the lumbar adjustment right. The 4-Way lumbar switch doesn’t seem to produce the results I expect when I try to deflate the lumbar support. It seems to deflate when I push the rearward detent on the lumbar switch; however, when I lower the support area with the down detent on the lumbar switch it seems to inflate or add support than I don’t want. So, I generally take less support at a higher position. On really long drives I occasionally vary the vertical focus area of support and that seems to help.
I have the 14-way seats in my Boxster. I think they are the same. It took a while for the seats to break in and to get used to them. The lumbar support with minimal inflation can feel intrusive but my lower back likes it. I don't inflate it at all. I would sugggest giving it some time.
I have 18 way in both my 981B and 991.2 C4S.
At 235#'s, I have zero problems and always have the lumbars 'cranked in' for support.
The car is extremely comfortable on the road.
Try somw 18 way and compare.
You should not be uncomfortable in your new Porsche!-Richard
I had the base seats in my 2007 and 2008 Caymans. Drove those cars for a combined total of 10 years and 120K miles. Often with days of up to 10 hours behind the wheel, and never did I feel like the seat wasn't perfect. I could always get out of the car after a long drive with no stiffness or soreness at all. The seat adjustments were pretty basic but a comfortable position was easy to find.
In my new Cayman GTS, I have the 18-way seats with memory... and do you think I can find the perfect position? Not yet. After some longer drives this fall I've found myself feeling quite stiff when I get out of the car. Really not sure what the issue is but I find myself longing for the basic manual seats in my earlier cars.
Or maybe my stiffness after driving the new car is due to my left leg getting no exercise without a clutch pedal.
FWIW, I have the same left leg problem in my 981B PDK.
Resting on the installed foot pad just was not comfortbale for long drives.
I now hook my left foot under the brake pedal and am very comfortable.
Conversely the 991.2 PDK foot rest is slightly differently positioned and I am not uncomfortable using the foot rest!-Richard
