The issue is the key lock is not working due to mechanical fault.
Leading evidence: 'key lock is not working due' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'key lock is not working due' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect battery' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
If you could open the frunk, would disconnecting the battery for a while, start the car back up in a non sleep mode?

If you can get in the engine bay, could you not hook up a charger to the positive battery point to the right, in front of the airbox and use the airbox bolt as a negative post?

My current hope has been if I can activate the alarm it might kick the car out of sleep mode and I can use the fob to unlock.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Bit of a problem...
*edit - this isn't a flat battery issue, this is a mechanical issue with key lock on driver's door. And the C4S only has one manual lock)*
My door lock mechanism isn't working, which means the key in the driver door lock doesn't unlock the car or deactivate the central locking system.
It also means it does not wake the car from sleep. And the car has fallen into sleep mode.
So I'm stuck (plus car is in my garage!)
My current hope has been if I can activate the alarm it might kick the car out of sleep mode and I can use the fob to unlock.
I fished the engine bay cable out and opened the bay. This did set of the bloody loud in a garage alarm, but the fob didn't deactivate the alarm. So the car is still in 'sleep mode".
My next plan is to try and pop the frunk with the driver side cable in wheel well. Then try flashing the battery to see if that helps?
I can't remove wheel (locking nut in car). I have peeled back the top bit of the wheel liner but I don't know where I'm looking for this cable.
I own a scope camera but without having an idea of the area I don't know where to go hunting.
Any ideas!?
My tech is already pricing up a new window

Give the battery some power and at least the manual locks should work. :thumb:
The battery jump terminals are in the engine bay. Negative is on the airbox- tall cad plated near the engine lock receptacle. Positive is under a plastic cover above the A/C pump.
If the alarm went off, seems strange that the lock isn't activating with the key. Did you try both doors?
Thanks both. I think you're confused - apologies (I added context in original now)
Nothing wrong with the battery - in fact it's connected to my trickle charger (the the frunk is closed).
The issue is the key lock is not working due to mechanical fault.
So engine bay doesn't help.
Cheers.
You mention flashing the battery in the original post... that is suggesting you want to connect another better to it, which you can do via the engine bay.
I wasn't aware the passenger door couldn't be opened manually on the C4S.
Sorry probably bad terminology on my part. I mean I'm hoping if I disconnect it for a bit and reconnect it I might get reset out of sleep mode.
I suspect I'm barking up the wrong tree though to be honest as I can't find any other examples on forums of that working in this situation.
I figure it's the only thing I can try before I smash a window and break in. I'm already eyeing up one of the small rear passenger ones :-/
Could be the wrong key blade for the car, lots of owners don't realise someone has changed them in the past due to central locking issues and they don't find out until this happens. But this also depends how long you have had the car and if you have woken the car up with this key in the lock before?
Hey infra,
It's the right key. I am 100% it's a mechanical issue with key mechanism because I think I caused it when putting door lock back in after fixing the common 'handle drops window but doesn't open door" issue.
I think I missed a step - since I didn't test manual lock with key I didn't notice (I was happy just to get the driver door working with fob again!)
Anyway, two weeks later car is in sleep and now I'm paying for my incompetence
So, thread really is about: where the F do I find this wire before I resort or breaking the window!
Understood, do you have breakdown cover or home start as this could be classed as a breakdown, just don't tell them anything about the previous work, you just want to get in the car
I'm still not clear why you don't try the passenger door lock? It mightn't turn off the alarm or activate the central locking, but the key should open that door on a normal day.
Is there a specialist emergency car lock person that you could try. Does
insurance
cover home emergencies? Might be worth a try before you break a window. It is possible you did everything correctly and it is another issue but you have convinced yourself on one thing.
Always good to have a second opinion.
