Suggestion

These are still fairly new "top of the line" cars and while there is depreciation, I'd be surprised if you can find a clean 09 for $72K.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Hi everyone, In near future I am planing to join the club of Porsche owners As of now I am looking at 3 categories: (Planing to buy in States and import it to canada) 1. 2007 911 Turbo under 75k (preferably manual) 2. 2008 911 2s/4s under 68k (manual only) 3. 2009 911 2s under 72k (preferably manual, maybe PDK) (I am not a GT 3 guy as I have a 5 month old and wife who is going to kill me if I buy a Skateboard Obviously the 2. Category offers the most selection. A cheap turbo is though to get and if they offer one with low millage its usually gone within one week form autotrader. I am a cart enthusiast but was never able to drive a Super-car like the TURBO. How much more driving pleasure do I get from the TURBO in daily driving? How much higher is the running Cost of an TURBO? I guess it keeps the value much better, after which year of ownership would the running cost outgrow the more stable value of a TURBO? Do I get more pleasure at all, are the natural aspirated engines more fun!? A Porsche Mechanic advised me that the new direct-injection Engines are not fully developed and he would go with an 2008!? But I am a tech guy so I would really like the newer PCM. After all are there any options I should look out for? other then those: PCM BOSE Sport chrono I can't go for the Sport seats as my Shoulders are to wide for them (maybe the adaptive Sport Seats!? haven't tryed them) Thanks for your time, Jonas

POST 2Original post

Let's see if I can help with some of the questions. Sport Chrono is a must have option. You'll get the overboost feature on 997.1 or 997.2 cars with with 997.2 cars optioned with PDK, a much more aggressive shifting pattern in sport mode. I'm not really up on the current prices (especially in Cdn $, I think the exchange rate is almost 1:1 right now.) but your listed prices for a 07 and 09 Turbos are way too low in my opinion. These are still fairly new "top of the line" cars and while there is depreciation, I'd be surprised if you can find a clean 09 for $72K. Maybe $92K, but that is still pushing it. In terms of maintenance, the Turbos will cost a little more for dealer services. I believe a standard oil service is around $350-$400 in my area for a Turbo vs. $250-$300 for a C2/C4s.

POST 3Original post

Thanks for your quick response, I added in my post that I am planing to buy in States, as of now there is 4 2007 turbos for under 75k. I listed prices for 2007 TURBOS and 2008 - 2009 carrera S's, not for 2009 TURBO's :-=)

POST 4Original post

Sorry, my bad, all those numbers and letters got jumbled in my eyes. 997.1 Turbos are in the $70's now? Wow, very interesting. I visited several dealers last weekend and saw the new Turbo "S" on the floor. Most had stickers above $165K. I think I've lost perspective when a typical new family car can be had $25K. We're all very fortunate to be even having a discussion like this! Welcome to the site by the way.

POST 5Original post

Thank you welcoming me, it seems though to get a turbo for under 75k but possible. Question is how much sexier is a Turbo

POST 6Original post

About 1 month ago I looked at a 2006 TT and it was $99k .. Very, very clean with 8000 miles on the clock, 6 speed and nicely optioned. They seemed more willing to make big deals on new 997.2 C2S & C4S than with that 2006 TT.

POST 7Original post

dunno how to post links but just an example Cars for Sale: 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe in San Diego, CA 92121: Coupe Details - 283067045 - AutoTrader.com

POST 8Original post

That's a nice price, but it's a tip and doesn't have CPO. IMHO, CPO is essential for a car this expensive to fix.

POST 9Original post

I've looked at a few lately and nice ones are in the mid to upper 80s with CPO which I wouldn't one buy without. Also, it seems a lot of 07s have tip. With all the torque, 480 ?, it's not an issue to me. But I'm a bit biased as I have PDK in my current car. I will admit having that much hp and tq coupled to a six speed would produce large grins/tickets. Good luck on your hunt. It's part of the fun.

POST 10Original post

Hey Jonas just saw your post. abt your enquiry depends what you want. do you wat a super fast luxurious car then go for the Turbo. If you fancy cruizing and speed is not the issue a C2S or C4S are the best. Remember a turbo is sometimes a tricky car though it has 4x4 system byt still if the turbo kicks in and you are not focussed the car will go crazy. Prices of turbos are on the low now. No idea about US market but here in our market in the UAE a turbo will cost 65K for a super clean one and sure can get a good one for 55k. I know a guy who is trying to sell his 04 996GT2 for 50k.
