Then again all of the above are small capacity engines which may run on higher boost.

urban for me is around 18mpg for a 15 minute commute, if i get some motorway miles in i can expect 23 mpg, but i do know how to drive more economically but when i want 35 mpg I'll use my wifes diesel vitara

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I noticed no difference bar enjoying the experience more.
Hi guys, just wondering what sort of fuel economy I could expect on a 996 TT (standard) compared to my current fine steed - a facelift 3.6 Carrera 2.
The C2 does a good mix of urban and open road driving and I have averaged an indicated 24.8 mpg over the past 3500 miles. Quite pleased with this by the way.
Just wondering what I could expect from a 996 TT in similar conditions.
I appreciate its guesstimate time but interested to get views - particularly from those who have had both.
Cheers in advance
Andrew
A fair bit of my mileage is country roads and in my old 996 C2 Targa I averaged 18mpg. After I got the PSE fitted it dropped to 16mpg. The Turbo (pre Revo) was about 16mpg and now probably about 15mpg. On a recent long run down to the Alps I was getting 25mpg
Amazingly the tyre wear on the turbo is much better than the targa. P Zero's on the targa lasted 4000 miles (rears) and I can get double that out of the MPS2's on the turbo.
Really? Would be very pleased if that were the case (its what I want to hear
). ive always been normally aspirated with the exception of what is now the wife's Audi A3 quattro 2.0T. This I found to be very thirsty (prob 27-28 mpg on average). Put it down to turboed cars being historically thirsty (Scoobies, Evos and Focus STs being notorious). Then again all of the above are small capacity engines which may run on higher boost. Don't really know as Im not experienced with turboed cars.
Obviously when you give the car the beans the economy goes out the window but out of interest in 'normal' driving with no sustained high rpm do the turbos have much input?
You obviously like using the right foot Dave
And why not!
Amazed you dropped 2 mpg with the sports exhaust. I noticed no difference bar enjoying the experience more. I reckon it may be a case of driving harder to enjoy the note
Mixed driving on my daily commute in the TT returns a consistent 26.2 up from a meagre 24.2 since the Revo
The drive is half dual carriageway and half town/country roads, 80 mile round trip.
As a commute I can't drive at a zillion miles an hour on obviously busy roads but it is usually a mildly spirited drive

Drive like a saint.......25.5 mpg
Drive like a madman...25 mpg
Can't work out if my saintly driving is a bit mad or my mad driving is a bit sedate :?

Get your Porsche Manthey'd. I get 28-30mpg avg living in central london and driving out of London.....
I got 40mpg while sitting on 60mph in France for an hour waiting for the others to catch up to me..... Believe it or not.... I was amazed.....
What are people's average speeds as per OBC? Last week, I did a 170mile trip to my parents in West Yorkshire across a mix of dual carriageways, motorways and country lanes. Average speed was 73mph and average consumption 25.7mpg. For me that was amazing - can you beat that?
