Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 996 1998 which has had some work done on it by the last owner . I had a minor oil leak (3 drips overnight) :?: which i traced to some bolts that were not torqued up properly two small 10mm bolts on the bottom of the engine casing on the near side. Does anyone have a schematic of a 996 engine that you could email me or send a link etc etc.. so i can see what other bolts hold this casing on. I cannot see around the full perimeter of the casing due to pipes etc etc... given that i can only get to two which needed nipping up my assumption :? is that the other bolts holding it on also need to be torqued up properly  . The cover to which i am referiing is directly behind the wheel I thinks it the crankshaft case. This car had the engine rebuilt as it had not had the oil flow mods done on the recall. I think the car should have gone it for a retorque after running back in... :what: Cheers dudes for your help A two penny helmet for a two penny head!

POST 2Original post

most of the crankcase bolts are unobtainable on a fully built up engine so the ones you see are the only ones you can get at sorry...

POST 3Original post

What are the oil flow mods? My 98 996 has developed an oil leak today after a tradck day at Brands. Dripping down the left side of the engine as you look in from the rear. Also developed a knoking noise from the left which seems to have gone away when driven normally.. Worried somewhat...
