Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suspected cause
Midnight blue is a very, very dark blue though and as yours is an 2000 model, I suspect its Ocean blue personally.
Leading evidence: 'its ocean blue personally' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'its ocean blue personally' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Morning all,
Just wondering if anybody out there knows the list of the porsche paint codes, as I need a touch up pen.
The code I have is L3AZ AD. I am 99.99% sure that the L3AZ is for Midnight Blue, it is just the AD part (Interior Trim colour) that i am looking for. I am hoping that this justs stands for Black
Thanks in advance
Chris
Glad you posted this code; OPC Leeds couldn't tell what colour my car was as their 'colour chart software is out of date.' I guess any call to an OPC with this code will get me a touch-up pen as well.
Cheers.
~ Maxie
It's the first letter of the second part of the code that denotes the colour.

A = black, yes.
OMG! you're right!
Wow, that would have been a massive mistake! Luckily, just rang Porsche Shop and they are going to make the swap for me!
Phew!
Thank GD! :worship:
No problem. Please double check the colour though. I'm fairly sure I'm right, but I've been known to be wrong as well!
Is your car midnight blue or ocean blue out of interest?
As a (hugely general) guide, ocean blue cars tend to be earlier examples and midnight blue tend to be later examples.
I did with Porsche Shop and they confirmed that the code L3AZ for my 2000 996 C4.
I thought it was midnight blue, well that was the colour that i was told when i bought it! Would it say the exact colour on the V5?
I am very confident (now) that L3AZ is ocean blue as some searching on the internet has confirmed it, pls yourself and Porsche Shop!
Ok, nice one. Ocean blue does get mistaken for Midnight blue (and, on this forum, Lapis
), as they are both dark colours. Midnight blue is a very, very dark blue though and as yours is an 2000 model, I suspect its Ocean blue personally.
The V5 will just say blue, but the sticker in your log book and under your bonnet will tell you for sure. If that's the colour code in your book, then that's the colour of the car!
Yeah, the label under the bonnet and the label in my service book states L3AZ and as you, the internet and Porsche Shop say this is Ocean Blue then that is what it is!
I already think my colour is very dark, so Midnight blue must be bordering on black! 8)
Thanks again
ocean blue was introduced i believe in 97 model year
lapis was introduced in 2001 model year when ocean was discontinued
midnight was a 993 era colour that was re introduced in 2003 model year
i believe midnight was discontinued in favour of ocean
