Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Feedback on the carnewal v standard. Hard to tell a difference personally. It may come alive with a few more Miles on it.

POST 2Original post

Hi Simon, I have not run the Carnewal but have read up on its as much as I can as I had initial interest. From what I recall, in the range you are referring to ie below 3500 rpm, the Carnewal will not have much of an effect and the anecdotal experiences of some posters seem to be no different to stock. On WOT, it comes alive but so too all other after market exhausts I suspect. If MOT requirements are not a restriction for you, perhaps take a look at Soul . I'm on stock due to local MOT crap but going by sound clips (debatable) and owner experiences, I'd go Soul if I had no restrictions. Have fun in the search and let us know what you end up with.

POST 3Original post

I have the Carnewal mod and came from a Borla that droned like mad. Changing to the Carnewal made a huge difference and removed drone below 3500. Tonally it is more of a throaty gargle rather than deep, bassy rumble. I hope that makes sense. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

POST 4Original post

I have carnewal and came from stock, I really like the sound, no drone, people often turn and check out the car then realize is just a Cayman , haha. it does feel less restrictive since once cat is removed (butt dyno) if you are looking for more HP this is probably not the best way since it stays with the stock diameter unless you opt for the R pipes. if you have the extra cash look for a Soul system, probably the best for both sound, no drone and power gains.

POST 5Original post

The Carnewal is noticeably louder during cold starts and above 3,500 RPM. I'd say mine is a little louder compared to stock below 3,500 but is it significantly different? No. If you're looking to have a quiet experience while just driving around town, it's a great option. No drone during highway cruising and very quiet when driving in 6th at 65 mph. Hopefully you've seen my video but if not, you can at least hear the cold start difference (didn't record audio while cruising around town).

POST 6Original post

I've had a Carnewal from Cantrell Motorsports for about four years. It's one of my favorite mods to my 2010 Boxster Base . It kept the basic tone and burble of the factory cans and added a bit more volume. Not intrusive at all at around-town throttle applications, but gives you the sounds you want when you pull hard in first and second. Absolutely no drone whatsoever. Mike Smith

POST 8Original post

I have the headers and the exhaust in my 987.2 sorry, the mic is on the outside.

POST 9Original post

I have the Carnewal on my Cayman S , and it is quite a bit louder than stock. It's loud enough that I started to wonder whether they made a "race" option I had accidentally gotten. Finally after noticing it mellowed out after the car go hot enough, I figured out the exhaust seals were not completely sealing, despite being new, and put some exhaust sealing paste in there which toned it down a bit. It is still on the louder side, but right around the sweet spot for me so that's fine. There is no drone though, which was a huge problem with my Soul Performance exhaust . Almost as big as the corrosion problem, after less than a year of mostly sitting in a garage. The only thing good I can really say about Soul is that they do stand by their product.

POST 10Original post

Went Stock -> Tubi -> Carnewal and the Carnewal is the best exhaust I've yet to hear on a 987.2 . Raspy, not too loud, and zero drone. After loving my Tubi on my old 987.1 car, I gave it a shot on this .2 - totally different. Too boomy and drony for my tastes. Went with the Carnewal and am done thinking about exhaust . I have FVD catted headers , Carnewal , and a Soul X-pipe. Can't recommend this combo enough.

POST 11Original post

Just don't be looking for a Carrera GT V10 sound that is toned down so you can hold a conversation while listening to classical music... You go louder, you get some drone (even if minimal) and you get the theatre that the car deserves. Some people don't even like Porsche sport exhaust .

POST 12Original post

I have the Carnewal R exhaust with the 55mm R mufflers (over the 48mm) on my 987.1 . Absolutely love it. Gert recommends the dual T pipes for exhaust tips and I got the 981 S tips.

POST 13Original post

Nice set up - any vids? Also did you give any thought about going with the Carnewal headers and exhaust or curious why you didn't? thanks Todd
