Took it for a quick (slow) drive around to the kids school yesterday and it was fine, then when i got into it to return it wasnt working again :frustrated: and the spoiler warning light was constantly on the dash again even though ive disconnected the bootlid electrics???

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Im after a bit of advice as im totally stuck!! Ive go a 996 c2 yr 2000 and after driving to work this morning i parked up nd noticed that the rear spoiler hadn't retracted and the dash light was on, i decided once parked to try the manual switch to retract it, it moved for a fraction of a second then stopped and then the digital reading on the dash cluster, rev counter and speedo have stopped working?? The fuel gauge, oil pressure and volt meter are all working fine an as i drove home the rev counter would intermittantly erratically move u to around 4k. Ive checked all the fuses and they are fine, ive even fitted a spare engine lid that has the spolier retracted and it does not rise at speed? Has anyone had this problem or has anyone got any advice as i dont know what to try next!! Cheers Adam

POST 2Original post

Hi Adam, You mention a dash light was on, which one as am not aware of any specific to the spoiler? Did you try to retract it with the engine on? If might be the alternator failing? Have you driven since posting this? I would get the car to an indy for them to have a look. PS Did you wash the car very recently, hose it with lots of water and not drive it immediately after?

POST 3Original post

There is a red light on the dials to show the spoiler is working, it goes out after the car starts to move TB

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well... I disconnected the bootlid and it was still the same, I went to london for the weekend and now they are working fine this afternoon but i havent driven it just started it so i will have to see tommorow!! Maybe its some sort of safety overload protection as to why its come back on after its been left for a while.??
