I have changed the microphone but I still have the same problem.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Guys,
I have a 2002 996 C4 I have had a problem with the indicator switch so today I have replaced it.
I removed the two screws from the rear of the steering wheel removed the air bag and then unscrewed the centre nut on the steering column, removed the street wheel.
Got access to the indicator assembly and removed it.
I then put the new assembly onto the car and did the process in reverse.
The problem is:
I put the steering wheel back on did up the centre nut and now the horn goes off on its own
Please note that I have not yet put the airbag unit back on does anyone have any ideas
Many thanks
David
Welcome Davud!
I would check that the airbag 'clockspring' contact is located properly. Also, when you clamp the stalk switch to the steering column, you have to get it in the correct fore-aft position. From the plate on the switch to the tip of the steering column shaft should be 55mm.
Edit: This might also be the culprit:

Thank you Richard for your help.
I am also having problems with the factory fitted car phone I can hear the caller but they just about hear me and there is lots of buzing on the line.
I have changed the microphone but I still have the same problem.
I have always had the car serviced by Porsche they have said it may need a new PCM1 Unit but the cost is about £2000 plus
Thanks Again
David
Yes, I had a standard small knob which was difficult to get hold of, and Mrs H also kept complaining that her fingers couldn't grip it properly. So I made a larger one to fit over the old one, and we are both happy with it now. [
