Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I didn't remove the trim, I was able to run wires under the door trim and tuck them into the wheel arch trim.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Got my reverse camera wire ran in the Cayman , and while I was in there, threw some coax Focals in the back to match the Focal 3 way set in the front.

POST 2Original post

Do you see a significant improvement with them?

POST 3Original post

Yes. The original ASK speakers were junk brand new. Fast forward 15 years and eww.

POST 4Original post

What size & model are the Focals? Were they plug'n play or did you need trim rings? My 2010 base Cayman had no rear speakers so I figured anything would be an improvement. Seems like that was about 10 years ago so don't remember what I used. I didn't remove the trim, I was able to run wires under the door trim and tuck them into the wheel arch trim. While trying to figure how to remove the trim pieces without damage, I realized I could mount the speakers behind the grill (above the shock towers) without removing the trim by accessing them from the space of the removed carpet and engine cover. Anyway, I never was happy with the sound and wouldn't mind doing it the right way with better speakers. So can you tell where you got instructions on the trim removal?

POST 5Original post

The rear speakers are 4" Focal IS100. They come with 4 mounting tabs, I cut two of them off. This is fine to do. When I installed them, I ran a bit of 1/4" wide weatherstripping around the edge of the speaker to help seal the front of the speaker from the rear. Also, on this model, the tweeters stick up from the cone of the speaker a bit. The weatherstripping helps to give room for this. As far as a guide on removing the panels, watch this
