Suggestion

I was trying to bed my new brakes in today using the manufacturer's (EBC) method and quickly realized that after applying the brakes to any real degree (about 10% or so) the car acts as if I am not pressing the gas pedal at all.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

2006 Boxster S manual. I was trying to bed my new brakes in today using the manufacturer's (EBC) method and quickly realized that after applying the brakes to any real degree (about 10% or so) the car acts as if I am not pressing the gas pedal at all. I mean, I can floor it and the engine acts like I lifted off the pedal completely. It doesn't even try to override the brakes. Is this a setting I can turn off? Is there something somehow wrong with my car? It works very well otherwise. How does one do heel-toe downshifting in these cars with this in place? A search of the owner's manual, the internet, and this forum did not turn up anything.

POST 3Original post

Edit: I finally found an old thread on this subject. (1) left foot braking | Planet-9 Porsche Forum Seems there is a slight delay, and the possibility that if you hit the brake first, it may not do this. I'll find out soon. So, nothing to see here I guess, have a good day!

POST 4Original post

I recall some managed to burn the brake pads off of Toyota's also by not having brake over throttle priority. You should be able to heal and toe just fine. Throttle should only be limited not cut completely. It takes very little to blip with the clutch in.

POST 5Original post

It was the Toyota incidents that caused this change - no acceleration while brake pressed. You're right - it's a PITA to bed in brakes now, but I do it rather quickly on a local interstate. Take it up to about 100, make sure no one is behind me, hit the brakes hard, holding them down to about 50mph. Rinse* and repeat.. (* = give the brakes a chance to cool before repeating). The brakes are usually working quite nicely after 4-5 of these. I guess the same could be done on local roads - 50 to 0...
