I gave the car a 7 hour detail yesterday (sad I know) and checked the rear tyre and all was fine, but then I noticed that the alloy seems to have an "indentation" on the circumference of it???

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have had a slow puncture in one of my rear wheels for a few weeks now :x I gave the car a 7 hour detail yesterday (sad I know) and checked the rear tyre and all was fine, but then I noticed that the alloy seems to have an "indentation" on the circumference of it??? Could this be causing the slow leak of air? I bought the car from an OPC and they refurbed the wheels prior to delivery so could I claim for this if it was the cause of the leak?

POST 2Original post

Potentially, depends on how deep the grove is. More likely that you've had a nail in the tyre and the head has come off during normal driving. Either way, 0 chance of OPC warranty, both would be considered wear and tear. The former almost certainly caused by our extremely poorly maintained roads, despite record levels of road tax, petrol tax and motor fines.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Bummer  Is it fixable though? There is no way there is a nail in the tyre, I really think it is this alloy? Unless it is a faulty valve?

POST 4Original post

I'd be amazed if it wasn't a nail in the tyre. Once the head has come off, it's almost impossible to spot, even if you look carefully. Generally, the only way to tell for sure is to take the tyre off and have a look on the inside. If it's a nail and it's in the right part of the tyre, then it's perfectly repairable and will cost you about £40. If it's the alloy, it would need to be a reasonable dent (or misshapen, which is difficult to spot from the side) and can be fixed by any reasonable alloy refurber. Expect to pay around £60 (if it only needs straightening), but the pain is that they will need the wheel for a little while. Cheers.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good news  Supplying OPC has agreed to fix it if that is the actual cause of the problem They have also agreed to refurb all the wheels again because the paint is coming off A happy ending for a change :thumb:
