Once its out, use a small screwdriver or similar to clean out any bits of rubber from the 2 channels, and from the area at the top of the window.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Afternoon all.
I eventually got round to replacing the seals!
It was a surprisingly easy job, took about half an hour all-in, and I'm well pleased with myself!
First off, the hood needs to be down. Stick a finger in the hole where the locking hook goes in the header rail, and at the same time press the rear window rocker switch (ignition 'on' of course)....this raises the rear window. The top of the seal is glued in place with super-strong black adhesive. This glue needs to be 'broken'....there's just enough rubber to get hold of with your fingers, wriggling it about will eventually unstick it. I think age helps....of the glue, not the individual!....the driver's one was a bit of a bu88er, so judicious use of a small, sharp ended screwdriver helped it along, the passenger one came off easily. Don't be tempted to then pull the seal out from the top as you'll probably end up splitting it and leaving some in the channels where the new one needs to slide in. Pull the seal down from the bottom so that it slides out....with the door open, you'll see the 2 seals meeting the bottom of the window seal. Peel these back, they're not glued in place, and you can then get hold of the bottom of the window seal and pull. Once its out, use a small screwdriver or similar to clean out any bits of rubber from the 2 channels, and from the area at the top of the window.
To fit the new one, coat the channels in soapy water. It helps to have the 2 other seals that meet at the top of the door shut taped back out of the way. 'Start' the rubber in the metal channels from the bottom - there are 2 seperate channels, self explanatory when you're looking at them! Pull the seal up into the channels all the way to the top. You'll see an 'L' shaped moulding on the inside face of the top of the new seal. This is the only bit that needs glue on it and it mates to a similarly shaped part at the top of the metal fitting. Degrease the metal and the seal, apply glue to the rubber, press lightly into place, hold for about 30 secs....job done, you can stand back and admire your handywork!
This is the link to the glue I used -

The worst bit about the job was worrying about doing it!
